Incredible Greens - Incredibly Easy
I was recently sent a bottle of Incredible Greens to try out. The bottle is a 30 day supply of a green powder supplement full of nutritional goodness. In this healthy formula 35 greens which offer immunity boosting properties that are also alkalizing to the body.
The mission, that I so happily chose to accept, was to try the formula out on a daily basis AND get my nine year old daughter to participate in the healthy test.
Realistically, the amount of greens that the human body SHOULD get a day are often more than is possible for us to eat. Sure we pile on the broccoli at night, and we are actually a 'Pescatarian' family (we only eat fresh fish & veggies, no meat from animals that have walked around). However, even a vegetarian family can find it a challenge to get enough of those cancer-fighting greens such as spinach, chard, asparagus, kale, brussels, broccoli, and on and on.
Excited to get started, I thought I'd just go for the Incredible Greens in the simplest form possible. So I poured myself a glass of water and stirred in a serving of the green powder. Eyeing the dark green concoction, I got ready to hold my nose and down the drink. However, the minute the liquid hit my tastebuds I was pleasantly surprised!
The Incredible Greens mixed just with water is sweet and almost creamy a la spinach ice cream. It was very delicious and as the days went on, I found myself actually craving the drink.
Now, my daughter's turn...this may be a challenge. Although I think it's delicious, kids can be a bit picky especially when it comes to dark green drinks.
I made a fresh smoothie with strawberries, bananas, vanilla yogurt, ice and a serving of Incredible Greens. The smoothie actually maintained most of it's 'pink' color from the strawberries (pictured above), and the green powder was barely noticable when blended. Needless to say, my daughter said it was the best smoothie she has ever had. After a couple of weeks, my daughter bravely asked if she could have the drink just with water. She did drink it down, but subsequently asked for smoothies thereafter. That's ok though ...good for her :)
The most obvious health benefits that are noticeable from Incredible Greens, is that we all became very regular. Wait..was that too much info? The next benefit that was more evident after two weeks is that I was not experiencing my 3:00 pm 'blahs' that I can normally get, especially when busy. The last benefit that I may not have felt, but I know was occurring is that my body was receiving alkanizing foods. Why are alkanaizing foods so important to human health?
There is a scale for pH that runs from 0-14. It is a measure of the acidity or alkalinity of a solution and is based on the concentration of hydrogen ions present in that solution. A positively charged hydrogen ion is acidic (0-6.5 on the scale) and a negatively charged ion is alkaline (7.5-14). A measurement of 7 would indicate a neutral solution, neither acidic nor alkaline.
So let's take a look at the human body. Most scientific models have the ideal body pH at 7.4 or slightly alkaline. The human body must have a healthy reserve of alkaline to neutralize excess acids and safely remove them from the body. When our reserves are depleted, then the body resorts to borrowing alkalines from our vital organs, weakening them and leaving the body wide open to disease.
When the body is operating at the acidic extreme of its pH range, it becomes more open to bacteria and viruses.
Speaking of viruses, a few weeks into my 'test' of Incredible Greens, my daughter and I were invited over to a friend's home while traveling in Florida. The minute we walked in the door, I knew my friend's kids were a little off and lo' and behold, they all had just been diagosed with strep throat. Strep is highly contagious, and I watched my daughter (as in slow motion - like a horror film), dig into a bowl of shared chips with her infected friends. Ah, shoot. I politely said we couldn't stay long as I scrambled to figure out how to make a quick escape. My girlfriend then made me a drink and as I was sipping on it, I noticed she was wearing a jacket and holding her arms like she was cold. Hmm..it was 85 degrees outside. I asked her if she had a FEVER, and she sheepishly admitted, "Yes" - as she was coming down with strep as well. Resigned to the fact that I had walked into ground zero germ zone with my daughter, I figured we may have two days before we came down with said virus. Well, amazingly enough, neither of us got sick. This is so rare for both of us - so I have to chalk this up to the fact that we both had a boosted immunity. If we were exposed to the airborne viruses that our friends were spewing up on us, some how our bodies fought them off. Way to go Incredible Greens. Incredible indeed!
I am now out, and going to order more. I am also ordering this for my mother, as she has a weight problem and really needs to alkanize her body. She is often tired, low energy, has digestive problems and joint pain. I am hoping this simple daily addition will help remedy those issues for her as well.
