Solidago
Wreaths make the perfect seasonal holiday
gift. Beautifully created by John and Lee Swift in the Blue Ridge
Mountains, Solidago
wreaths are environmentally friendly.
Most mainstream wreaths that you see for sale in
the stores and online are made from wreath grade Fraser Firs.
The trees are chopped down to the ground, and only the tips are
used.
Plenty
of beautiful greenery on strong stems remains that is not used. That is where Solidago steps in.
By taking fir clippings, and rounding invasive
species growing wild, such as bittersweet and privet, Lee masterfully
creates
these beautiful wreaths.
Lee adds
these brightly colored berries and clippings to a base of Fraser
Fir and White Pine. To make the wreath really
stand out against the cold, grey winter sky, she added sprigs
of the golden- chartreuse evergreen from the cypress family.
Pictured
here is a holiday wreath that we received from Solidago Wreaths.
As you can see, it's nothing short of
stunning. I originally hung it on my front door, but then quickly
moved it inside and hung it in my entry way. You see, not only
do I want the benefit of seeing this beautiful, natural wreath
in my home, but it smells like a fresh pine forrest!
As Solidago Wreaths
grows, they are gradually transforming fallow meadows of the
area
to the
permaculture
of woody ornamental plants
that
can be trimmed annually for wreaths. Wide green paths separate
these plantings, each brimming with hardy native perennials.
If you're looking
