Debbies Bio
I have many roles but my favourites
are being a mom to my incredible two year old son, an
aunt to my wonderful nephews and a wife to an awesome
husband who encourages me everyday. I love being at home
with my son and to be able to watch and participate in
many of his life journeys. I enjoy taking long walks
in forested areas and grabbing a free minutes to write
in my journal. I am a woman that dives into many new
adventures. I love to sing and dance but many walk out
the door with my singing performances.
As well, I love to participate
in activities that energize the mind, body and spirit.
My desire to write simple living articles was the lack
of information on natural homemade products. I did a
great deal of searching and experimenting before I felt
confident to write about alternatives to commercial products
in the home. This search has been great and continues
to feed my mind with wonderful ideas to decrease commercial
products in the home and increase products made from
nature and the heart.

Make Your Own Honey Beauty Products
By Debbie, Simple Living 101
This information
is for entertainment purposes. Please use caution when using
any products on your skin. These are home recipes and should
be viewed as such.
Flowers are blooming and millions
of bees are getting ready for another summer of producing honey.
Honey is a great ingredient for homemade beauty products. Honey
is high in potassium content making it difficult for germs to
survive. It is also great for retaining moisture. These are recipes
I have tried and altered to better suit my needs. I love homemade
beauty products but am unwilling to spend hours concocting a
product. These products can be prepared in less than five minutes
and use only ingredients that are found in most kitchen cupboards.
These recipes will enhance your beauty if they are a part of
your regular beauty regiment. To be beautiful one must still
drink plenty of water, get plenty of rest, reduce stress in their
lives, have a balanced and nutritious diet and most of all love
themselves.
Honey Recipes
Lip Moisturizer: Melt 1 tablespoon
of honey and stir in 1 teaspoon of olive oil. Place this on
your lips to keep them looking great.
Deep Conditioner: Brush your hair
and remove all tangles. Gently work in 100% pure honey into
your hair, starting at the roots. Work in sections to ensure
all of your hair is covered with honey. If the honey is too
thick to work with gently warm the honey and place on the hair.
Cover your hair with a shower cap and wrap a towel around your
head. Let the honey sit on your hair for 30 minutes. Remove
the towel and shower cap and rinse your hair in the shower
with warm water. The honey will effortlessly leave your hair.
The honey has left your hair full of shine and bounce.
Hair Shine: Clean and condition
your hair as usual. Combine ¼ teaspoon of honey with 4 cups
of warm water. Rinse this solution through your hair and style
as usual. Great to use before a big date.
Hand Moisturizer: Melt 4 tablespoons
of honey and stir in 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Massage this
over your hands and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. Remove with
warm water. Your hands will feel soft after the first try.
Facial Mask: Ground 1 tablespoon
of oatmeal into fine pieces. Stir in 1 teaspoon of honey and
enough milk or cream to make a smooth paste. Gently place the
mask on your face and neck, and let sit for 15 minutes or until
dry. Rinse off with warm water and splash your face with cold
water when the mask is completely off your face. This is a
great mask to do once a week to rid your face of all impurities.
Body Wrap: Melt 2 cups of honey
and stir in 1 cup of powdered oatmeal and 2 tablespoons of
olive oil. Grab a partner and let them gently work this mixture
all over your body but staying away from delicate areas. Let
this mixture sit on your body for 30 minutes. Rinse in a warm
bath. I prefer to the front and back of my body separately.
This is incredible for the skin.
When preparing or using any of these
recipes use your own judgement. These works wonders for my combination
skin type but may not be beneficial to yours. Experiment with
all recipes and only make enough mixture for that day. Most of
the products do not keep well. Happy Experimenting
