Hey everyone. I'm curious about where I could get patterns for making patchwork clothes. I have a pair of corderoy patchwork pants and a skirt, but it is beyond me how they put it together. If anyone knows where I can find these let me know. email: lissema@cox.net hmmm... I wonder if I have to trade something for patterns.------------------ There must be some mistake, I didn't mean to let them take away my soul, am I too old? Is it too late? |

most of the patchworks i know of and or made myself have just been ideas i thought of myself. I just wing it, that goes for all of my sewing projects. You might have some luck through gypsey rose. most of there clothes are the same and they just might have patterns. good luck! ~peace~ |

Thanks. Eventually I think I will be able to use what is in my head and just make it, but so far I am very much a beginner.... so I thought a pattern would be a good thing to have because I expect my first pair of pants will come out looking like a sleeping bag or something....

Hello,I use patterns & tweak them to fit my needs. You can go to the craft store & buy a regular pattern for pants. But instead of using regular piece of fabric you can piece together your own panel out of patchwork. Good luck! ericka |

I make patchwork - I started with a quilt - a regular, flat, putting perfect squares together in groups of nine, just to get a feel for what the fabric does when you sew it together, and all that... (those later became courier bags, or pillow tops) Then, by just cutting open a pair of already-made pants that I had, right down the side and stitching a strip in there, and trying them on, I could see what that did to the pants... then, I got braver - and tried a pair of pants that were way too small for me and added more patches in the sides - when that worked out, I went for skirts, and making stuff from scratch - instead of turning all my perfectly fine-the-way-they-were jeans and overalls into patchy duds ... Hey Sunshine folk, I love to sew and have been my whole life. I think just altering a pattern for regular pants works good but I found a book on tips for making patchwork clothes. Here's the address: http://www.geocities.com/poohdoh/book.html------------------ ~*~Love and Peace~*~ ~*~Strawberry Autie~*~ ~*~Strawberry Fields Clothing~*~ http://hometown.aol.com/meenmissmustard |

i would go to some quilting websites for tips on sewing together patches. there are some techniques that quilters use to quikly sew together lots of patches. you can also make your own patterns, i use tracing paper. You can either take your measurements and make a pattern from that or you can even use clothes that you already have as patterns. |
