hey, i am a new found bare foot lover. i walk around every where i can barefoot. as long as i know where i am stepping isnt going to be gross. i love the feel of the grass and sand between my toes. i do have people look at me funny and ask me why thehell i do it. but i just say that they need to give it a try and they will see why i am this way. i have had some rude comments about me just being a dirty hippie but i dont let it get to me. they are just narrow minded and dont see the joy of the simple lifestyle. its a shame to see. so more power to u for walking barefoot and keep it up. its something that i learned from studying buddism that it is a simple joy that can really make u feel better and more enlightened. i have only been doing it for a short while, but i dont think i can ever go back now. peace and love to u all. |

I'm a barefooter, not too long and not too extreme, just went I'm walking I'll slip off my shoes, I also find that its enlightening and great. I've never had any comments said, although I have gotten weird looks. I really don't give a damn. A lot of the places that I hang out are accepting, so it doesn't matter. I go into stores barefoot a lot and people don't care. They are actually really nice although nobody has asked me questions or anyhing. They just, don't notice. |

It's good for you, too. I never wear shoes unless forced to. They are uncomfortable and bad for your feet. For some great information, check out http://www.barefooters.org |

I go for a barefoot walk almost every day, summer and winter. When the temperature gets below 25 degrees, or there is more than a few inches of snow on the ground, I limit my walk to about a mile. The only time I remember being uncomfortable was during a weekend trip to the beach. Temperatures were to be in he 40's, but an unexpected snow storm came in and dumped about 6 inches of snow on the ground. It was tough going, but no frostbite occurred. |

Got some thoughts and a question for all our *barefooters* here.First off, I hear you all! Though, not being a true barefooter myself, I am very barefoot tollerant. As you may have guessed, I drive a Greyhound bus. Those of you that are in the know, Greyhound has NO *official policy* regarding the wearing of shoes on the coach. Most drivers will tell you there is, but a lot of you know better. If you don't know, now you know. Many drivers get bent out of shape over passengers getting bare and comfy and will go to great measures to tell you so. Me, I'm cool with it. All I ask is that: a.) Don't invade anyone's space. (read that as you wish), and b.) If you have been wearing shoes for awhile and wish to 'de-shod', be discreet and sensitive to the needs of others. (just good common sense - yes Virginia, sometimes, feet stink) Yes, if you choose to go barefoot in public, people will look. There are THREE basic types of looks: a.) Approving. Very rare, but welcome. Mostly those looks come from people like me that are tollerant and encourage barefooting. b.) Dissaproving. They want to get a rise out of you. These people have been taught that feet are nasty and should never come in contact with the outside world. Anything that bare feet touch will immediately be conaminated with *foot cooties*, and anyone barefooting is a heathen and an abomination unto God. (Doesn't God go barefoot? If not, why not?) c.) Leering. Unfortunately, there's a small sliver of the population that finds bare feet a turn on. They're out there, you know it. Ignore it. Life is full of weirdos. `````````````````````````````````````````````````` On a related note, here's a question: Does anybody here think that barefooting is sexy? Does anybody here have a major problem with people that think that way? Your thoughts. -- Greyhounder |

Hi friends!First off, good post, GREYHOUNDER. I was on a Greyhound bus some time ago. I'm sure YOU weren't the driver. This guy was not even going to give us a break with being able to remove our footwear. I'm glad you're okay with barefooters and you're not one of the "Greyhound Shoe Nazis". I mean, after all, it's just bare feet! On a recent short Greyhound trip, the passengers on our bus were terrorized by the driver's announcements about people not wearing shoes. Some passengers seemeed willing to police the bus for other passengers that were breaking the not-without-shoes rule. This made me furious, only because he was making such a big deal of it. Such is life. Greyhounder, you said a few things, and made some points I can get behind. Like you said - Don't invade anyone's space. I'm a barefooter, but I sure wouldn't like any *starnger* using my headrest as a place to prop their feet, shoes or no shoes. I've seen people (young and older) put their feet on vacant seats or armrests next to where people were sitting. Yes, that's annoying. A related note, GH also said, If you have been wearing shoes for awhile and wish to 'de-shod', be discreet and sensitive to the needs of others." Right on! Feet can sometimes be rather nasty when coming out of the confines of a shoe that's it's been confined to for several hours/days. Such is the argument for foot powder. What I really want to address is the question: "Does anybody here think that barefooting is sexy? Does anybody here have a major problem with people that think that way?" Well, to answer that, I don't really find barefoot men a turn-on, but YES, barefooting can be sexy. I get compliments and kind words on occasion. So, I don't have a major problem with it. Sure, there are fetishists out there, but they are a minority I think. Not everyone who thinks your barefeet are cute and sexy are fetishists. Sometimes you have to learn to take things at face value. Bare feet DO rule! To go back to the ORIGINAL post, sure, people will look and make strange faces and shame you. That applies to ANY given situation. If you take no notice they soon move away and leave you alone. Keep those shoes off! Bare feet are happy feet! -- Lindy

I love going barefoot The only big problem i have had was with a tar parking lot. It actualy burnt the bottom of my foot For the most part though you can carry flip flops with you for when you just have to have on shoes Easy way to fix the problem before someone gets really bent out over it. |

Being outdoors in bare feet is a good way to get to know the Earth. I learned to give up my shoes completely and spend time outdoors with the grass and soil between my toes. There's not many things more intimate that touching and feeling the Earth with bare skin. Naked feet make one vulnerable and respectful of the Earth and all Her plants and creatures. Besides, all of the Earth's creatures go barefoot. Did you ever notice? It's good to be as Nature made us, free of shoes that bind and free to touch and feel everything in the world in a gentle way. Hi Everyone, Found this site very interesting indeed and reading some of the coments it seems it`s normal to leave your shoes off and walk about in your bare feet all day long! Seems by some of the pictures, that some members have got it bad but l myself seem pretty alright about leaving my bare feet dirty most of the week! Only really having to wash them when l have to have a bath! |

I agree with everyone. Walking barefoot is great. I hate wearing shoes, and I go barefoot whenever I can. I have overheard people at the street corner say "I would never walk barefoot, there could be broken glass etc" I mean really, is anyone going to be stupid enough to walk on a piece of glass? No. Last week I was in a bar, and I kicked off my shoes and went on the dance floor. Three hours later, I left them off, and walked home. I was joined by another girl, who did the same. It just feels great to go barefoot, no matter what the circumstances are. as for flip flops, I think they are useless. I mean, peoples feet will be just as dirty after walking in flip flops all day as someone who was walking barefoot. So, I just don't wear them. |

I have also noticed more people walking barefoot as well. This is especially true during the summer. While reading through the notes above, I noticed a comment that a person who made a comment about walking on the tar-covered parking lot. I have walked on new pavement, tar and hot pavement (on a hot summers day). The tar was accidental, but the hot pavement just blackened the soles of my feet. I thought it was great. My feet have never been healthier since I kicked off my shoes, and I don't plan on turning back. [This message has been edited by bare rocks (edited 11-10-104).] |

With the exception of the message above, what do most people do when the weather gets cooler? Do most people just put on some socks and continue to walk around without shoes? Or, do they stay barefoot? Does anyone of any thoughts? [This message has been edited by bare rocks (edited 11-23-104).] |

i come from a family of barefooters and love it. go barefoot long enough and your sole will toughen so that you have no problems. most of the people who stare at the bare feet would find something else to stare at if you were wearing shoes anyway.B.kind2yourself.kind2others.kind2earth | |
