Who has big stretched earlobes? I've been working on mine for about two and a half years. I'm sitting at 5/8 of an inch, getting ready to continue stretching... I also make my own wood jewelry. I know there are other stretchy people here... |

Hey there!, I've stretched my ears to about a 12 gauge, I know, not that big, but anyhow do you have any tips on how to make either bone or wood spirals of about a 12 to an 8 gauge... any ideas would be welcome. JMT |

Well, I don't think any organic material is going to work well in that small a size. The smalles I've made wood plugs is 2g, and you could probably get away with 4g. Any smaller than that and they'll just be too fragile to wear, and broken jewelry could make things pretty ugly. That said, the way I would make spirals woule be to start out with a disk of whatever material you're going to use, cut out the basic shape on a scroll saw and finish the shaping with a knife and then sandpaper. To finish it off I'd buff it with a small buffing wheel on a dremel tool and oil it with something like jojoba, vit. E or olive oil. |

Thanx Toman, I see your point about organic materials not working to well for what I'm trying to do. Good idea though for starting off with a disc of the material one is working with... stillness over chaos... |
