So, I was still in HiGh school in 1967. On the FM station, KSHE, we heard "Janis Joplin/Big Brother...landing at the airport,at around noon, blah blah blah, so we skipped school and drove down to st louie airport, and lo and behold...Janis and Sam Houston, and all right there in person, so we talked to them(we were young, they were REAL HIPPIES) and then there wasn't enough room in the LIMO for the whole BAND...so 2 of the band rode in OUR VAN. And then it broke down in DOWNTOWN ST LOUIS, and SAM HOUSTON ANDREW starting taking home movies of these young hippies trying to fix there car...They called a taxi finally, but we got passes up into the hotel, to PARTY, and at the show, "THEY" tried to shut Janis and Company down, riot insued and before they left the stage, Janis had a lot to say, SHE said "if we can find a place to play, it'll be for free" The next day, FOREST PARK PAVILION, BIG BROTHER AND THE HOLDING COMPANY!!!!!!! and Janis and Sam and some others that I don't remember, came up to me, said high, got high,mmmm and like WOW!, I'll never forget it. Just like regular people...by the way, "HOLDING" in hippie jargon meant ?????? peace,hippies | |
