I have been learning a little bit about raw food diets recently, but there are a few things that I don't understand. Hoping you guys could help me out.(I am a pretty active teenager with running and backpacking etc., vegan for about two years.) 1. Can raw fooders eat grains? It seems that harvesting the actual grains themselves from the stalks shouldn't hurt the plant 2. How can one get enough protein if unable to eat grains? I don't think that I could get my required 96g for endurance sports (calculated from a Vegetarian Times article on protein & sports) through nuts alone. 3. Any advice for talking about the parentals for this kind of thing? My mom is not supportive at all of my veganism, I used to have to bus myself to the NFS and use my $10 allowance to buy soymilk, tofu, beans, etc. |

raw veganism is intense, it is a entirely different lifestyle. It's going to be really difficult for you to keep up let alone when living with people who aren't supportive. I have a raw vegan 'cook' book. if you want it we could set up a trade or something, just poste your email address and i will contact you if you are interested. |

I've been looking into raw food diets as well and trying to make the transition to all raw, it's been diffucult but worth it. Anyways, I've been trying to find out if sprouted bread could be considered raw, I don't really think so but it would be great if it was. It does has living grains, so I don't know. |

I just had my first colonic and have been eating about 75% raw. I really have no desire to go 100%. I LOVE Brown Rice and Black Beans! LOL,,,,and humas & pita's. However my diet consists of ,,nuts & fruit for breakfast,,,sometimes oatmeal & fruit. Salad (huge) for lunch . Brown rice & beans for diner with soy milk & veggies. I feel so good eating this way! Maybe one day I might lead to 100% raw but not anytime soon. :-) |
