Hey all! I really need help and advice. I'm thinking of going on a cleansing juice fast. The problem is, I never have any will power to get past the first day. I get so hungry! Does anyone have any advice on how to get through this fast? If so, if you've tried a juice fast, did you lose weight and keep it off? I've read up on fasting and weight loss, but it has always seemed difficult for me to do a fast. I would GREATLY appreciate your tips and support! PLEASE HELP! Thanks, Peach |

Hi Peach 05, I recently read "Vegetarian and Vegan Nutrition" by George Eisman and it made me realize it may not be such a good idea to consume things that have had the fiber removed. The functions of fiber: blood sugar regulation, satiety (obesity prevention), bowel function regulation, and blood cholesterol regulation He made me realize whole foods, rather than refined, are the best way to go for good health. So I have given up juices altogether and eat the fruit instead. Hyssop |

While it is true that foods should be consumed with the fiber intact, a juice fast of a few days is generally a very beneficial thing to do. I am diabetic and I do one every other month with no detriment to my glucose levels and to the betterment of my entire system. There is an excellent group on Yahoo that deals with herbal healing and these sorts of things. If you want to email me, I will give you the link. A good balanced Vegan diet is all you need to normalize your weight. These are just things that work for me and my health, but may not be for everyone so use your own judgement and do some research on cleanses and fasting before you do one. Hope some of this helps! ------------------ To be a vegetarian is to disagree. To disagree with the course of things today. Starvation, World hunger, cruelty, waste, wars.
