I am a vegetarian.
I exercise regularly and am doing weights too. Protien foods are good for muscle building and hence I am looking for some.
Can somebody guide me with some vegetarian high protien foods.

there are tons of meat substitutes out there that are high in protein...
1. if you have a trader joe's near you, try the SOY NUGGETS (yellow box)...they are just like chicken nuggets. also check out trader joes' meatless meatballs.

2. at your regular grocery store i'd check out boca burgers, gardenburger brand meatless meatballs, and meatless riblets (<--the riblets are my dad's favorite and he's anything but a vegetarian!).

3. if you're on the go, LUNA bars are great to have as snack food...my personal favorite flavors are dulce de leche, nutz over chocolate, and pecan pie (you can get them at whole foods in the health/vitamin section or at some other grocery stores). also, nuts and soybeans are good "on the go" foods as well.

4. lastly, if you are looking for meals to make for dinner or what-not, try looking into soups...especially vegetarian chilis, which can be really high in protein if you use a variety of beans and boca's ground "beef".

hope some of this helps!

Veg girl has some great suggestions for you but there are natural foods that have tons of protein and by natural I mean foods that are not processed in any way.
Legumes and other lentils are packed with protein and are great in all types of recipes.
For example you could do a lentil Dahl which is a curried Lentil dish.
Dahl simpley means lentil and there is a list of great lentil recipes at www.fatfree.com.
Just go to the Indian section for lists of lentil recipes

Also check out www.beanslentils.com for cooking guides on how to cook dried lentils and beans.
And also look at www.vegweb.com, they have lots of information on recipes and dietary information on vegetarianism.

I wish you the best of luck in your vegetarian journey, its 5 years running for me and ive never been healthier.

Try adding some bean sprouts to your salads. They contain around 45% protein and add a delcious crunch. If you're serious about muscle-building you could always try a creatine supplement which is proven to be very effective with veggies as we don't get it naturally from meats. Best of luck!
