Hi everyone-

I am trying to find some good tofu recipes. I am afraid I am good at cooking everything else but tofu. If you have any really good recipes, i would really appreciate it

Here's one that's pretty simple that I make all the time. Take a block of tofu (soft or firm -- both work), chop it up into little cubes, and toss it in a bowl with some olive oil, basil, oregano, thyme, a pinch each of paprika and red pepper, salt and pepper. Let it sit while you saute a chopped onion and some garlic. I like to add a drop or two of sherry vinegar and a pinch of sugar to this. When this begins to brown, add the tofu and continue cooking for 5 minutes or so.

Meanwhile, start some water boiling for pasta.

Add a can of crushed tomatoes to the tofu, and continue cooking, stirring every so often until the pasta is done. Add the cooked pasta to the tomato sauce, and there you have it -- pasta and tofu!

This recipe is my favourite way to eat tofu. It's actually been a hit with several people who are very anti-tofu such as my boyfriend!

It's very simple. You take firm/pressed/extra-firm tofu and cut it into slim slices. Pan fry it in a bit of oil and add soy sauce as it is frying - to taste. Try and get the tofu crispy and golden. This is easier to do if you drain it first. I make variations by adding garlic or seasoning salt ... whatever you want.

I then use these tofu slices in sandwhiches usually with lettuce, tomato... whatever is on hand. I really love it.

Another simple one is to mash tofu (anythign but dessert) with a fork. Fry it in a pan. Use this as your base and thinnk of it as a scrambled egg replacement.

You can then make many variations. For italian style add italian spices ... italian vegetables and fry it all up together.

I like to add soy sauce to this too. Miso is good as well. Really, the sky's the limit.

My favourite thing to do with tofu is to buy firmer tofu (pressed, firm, extra-firm...) and slice it rather thinly. I then pan fry it with a little oil until it is crispy. I add soy sauce in the final minutes. Sometimes I add garlic or another seasoning. Don't add more salt though since soy sauce is so salty!
I then eat it in sandwiches with lettuce, tomato... whatever I have on hand. I've had several anti-tofu friends love this recipe.

Ooooooooohhhhh, pan fried and crispy is my favorite way to eat tofu. It reminds me a little of a fish fry.

A twist on the pan fry is to coat with bread crumbs and herbs before frying.
