Falafel is super easy and fast! A couple of cups of cooked garbanzos (or you can use canned if youre in a rush) 1 med. sized diced onion a good handfull of fresh parsley Juice from 1 lemon or so a teeny clove of garlic a good large pinch of turmeric salt a good pinch of sesame seeds paprika ground cumin and a scant 1/4 cup of flour (this is soo important.. if you dont use the flour they fall apart when you are cooking)You can either mash everything up in a bowl (the bottom of a glass works really well) or pop everything in the food processor. all the spices are to taste.. if it tastes good raw.. it will taste good cooked! |

i just got back from studying in spain where i pretty much lived off of falafels...the ones i had there had couscous in them as well, and it tasted great! not sure about the exact recipe, but messing around with the idea might produce some tasty results! |

Ummmm, what do you do after you mash all the stuff up?Cooking time? HOW to cook it? (bake or deep fry?) What temp? I was also wondering if I can just use gram flour to replace grinding the chickpeas?

I know that they wouldn't be considered falafels, but if there is a substitute for chickpeas please post I just don't like the consistency of chickpeas, even in hummus (I am just weird I guess) thank you------------------ Peace cannot be achieved by violence, it can only be attained through understanding!~Albert Einstein
