what is the strangest project THAT WORKED for you using society's throw away stuff?
I made a sign for a musician friend's front porch out of a wall-hanger harp (I couldn't repair it)

Mine isn't really creative, but it is very practical. You need to save 2 things- your egg cartons and dryer lint. You take the dryer lint and mush it in the egg carton. Then you pour paraffin wax over the lint. when it hardens you have fire starting pellets. They are excellent when you go out camping! ;)

the eggs I get come in cardboard :) I am sure you can use a different mold to make them. I am sure you can also make paper out of lint as well. I have a friend who makes handmade paper, and that is what she uses sometimes.

I'm renovating/remodeling an old rickety house. I tore down a couple old sheds that were falling down anyway. I re-used the studs I got out of them, in building interior walls in the house.

And the latest and greatest thing I'm doing? (haven't done it yet but I know it will work!) I am going to buy an old walk in cold-room (basically one of those huge freezers grocery stores use), they come in sectioned panels and they're just basically a really, really insulated box. There's a building going to be torn down and they're just going to throw this thing away.

I am going to buy it for a song ($50.00 anybody?) AND...I'm going to make it into an outdoor sauna! :D

An outdoor sauna sounds great. We're thinking about turning my "Moon Lodge" (my little shed) into one. He he he
