I love aldo leopold. I went to a college where there was a big natural resource program and we had to analyze some of the excerpts from the book. A lot of the professors taught about his works, and some even emulated him. If I remember correctly the chapters are divided into months (I havent read it in 4 years, I need to dig it out of my plethora of books!). My favorite chapter was with the woodcocks dancing, he wrote it so eloquently. What I admired about him is that he writes about how the land is this huge living thing and we are but a minute part in the scheme of it all. We need to be more conscientious about our actions with the earth, and think about what the repercussions would be. But yes, it is a must read for any conservationist.

Hahaha Toman-- I was thinking of that when I was typing- somebody is going to make fun of this when I type it. But then I thought that people would be more mature than that ;) It still is a great book

Of all of the books I read for a core class at college this year, Sand County Almanac was by far my favorite. I want to get some more of Leopald's work, but it's true, he wrote that book back in the 30s now we are in another century, we need to start focusing on land ethic before the land begins to look like the Jetsons or Futurama.
Peace!
