Two pieces of software to download and use: AdAware and Spybot. They'll get your computer clean and keep it that way. :bandit:

Am I truly ignorant, or are those two pieces of software something that you don't ever want to download?
Doesn't one of them require you to pay to have it taken out of your system?
Forgive me if I'm wrong
If this is just very dry humor, then....hahahahaha!!!

Adaware and spybot are both good programs. I have AdAware. I use it regularly. For some reason my computer doesn't like spybot though; it crashes every time I try to download it.

Sorry, no funnies here. Those are both good programs that are free and will do what they are supposed to with no ill effects. :hippie:

Aye, Adaware and Spybot are both good programs, as is a2 (a squared).
If one or any doesn't work for you, check out MajorGeeks: Spyware Tools (http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads31.html) and MajorGeeks: Antivirus Tools (http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads29.html). The software there is all either freeware or shareware (use for a bit, then you have to register). If you only want free stuff, it says clearly in each item's entry:
a-squared (aČ) Free edition - [2005-03-06 | Freeware | 1.2 Mb | Win All | 191929 | 4.67 ]
Protection against Trojans, Dialers and Spyware.
That is, name of software, date added, license (freeware/shareware), size of download, which windows operating systems, download count, and rating out of 5 by the users of said site.

I used to use spybot and adware too pretty good programs, when used together :liebe028:
However surprisingly as it may seem Microsoft, have managed to create a program that combines both anti spyware and adware, provides an auto protect feature, like your antivirus program (so your constantly protected - prevent rather than cure) and seems to actually scan the system quicker and more thoroughly, than the 2 programs mentioned above
Amazing ha?
OMG I'm actually promoting MS
lol anyway give it a try

P.s When it asks you to authenticate windows
just check the box that says no - Do not authenticate windows at this time but take me to the download
P.p.s. If you don't really consider yourself much of a techie
Follow the guys advise above
The program I mentioned will protect you from something which we call malware
However in combination with this you should have a good anti-virus and firewall program (norton sucks btw) :hippie:

Remember to check the option that says
