Hi again, I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for my garden/ flower beds. I want to expand them to engulf my entire yard. My yard is pretty small. The climate is hot during the summer months while cold in the winter. I'm growing sunflowers, petunias, magic lilies, and clown flowers. I have hollyhock, and poppy seeds and iris bulbs. I want to plant a large amount of lavendar and start an herb garden. Any ideas on other plants to grow? Thanks.
Peace & Love,
Kim :hippie:

I, too, am in Indiana. My husband and I just recently re-landscaped. I have lots of daylilies in different colors, mostly red, yellow, and orange. They are easy to grow, spread quickly, and are beautiful.
I also like ornamental grasses a lot. They are pretty all year around. They come in all colors and sizes. It's also important t o think of what everything will look like in the winter. I like to have some sort of evergreen so not everything looks so dead in the the winter. I also planted some bulbs that will bloom late winter/early spring, and then different ones that will bloom all season long.
Lavendar is a wonderful plant. I also like scented geraniums. They don't get flowers, but they smell wonderful. They come in pineapple, citronella, and all sorts of different scents.
I could go on forever. I hope these ideas help you. Good luck.

I live in southern Florida, and birds of paradise thrive here... we just planted them and nature did the rest! We just weed every once in awhile to keep things lookin' spiffy :)
Also, have you thought about fruit trees? We have citrus, because it's easy to grow here, but apple and peach trees are nice... I like to look out my window and see colorful, delicious fruit hanging from branches, and you can eat what you grow! Also, the fruits that fall make a good natural fertilizer.

Tellin' you right now,
soon there will nothing to plow,
soon there'll be nothin' natural,
and everything will be artificial.
