We almost always use Yesterday's New kitty litter for our happy little buddies but I was shopping a few days ago and found littler made out of ground corn cob. It is a lot finer than the yesterdays new and my l'il buddies like it better plus, it save the recycled paper for better things.
he he he
Just a thought for any of you who have cats. :D

There is a litter made out of wheat as well. It is called Swheat scoop. It is a lot finer than yesterday's news as well. I unfortunately don't buy it often b/c they are all pretty expensive. I just buy the clay litter and put baking soda in it. But when I do have extra money, I buy it :)

heh- I hate cats, but i use cat litter in my garage to soak up spilled/leaked oil, brake fluid, antifreeze, diff lube, stuff like that. I recently found that the sawdust from under my table saw works about 90% as well and it's free... Maybe it would work for cat crap too?

Sawdust is great for any poop and I'm sure any cat would love to be given sawdust as a toilet, but it would probably get tracked out of the litter box a lot more than regular litter. Fortunately my cat goes outside and is great at burying it well.
Maybe it's because I buy the cheapest litter made?? lol. He only uses the box when it's snowing or when the ground is too dry and hard to scratch.
Maybe I'll get him some corn or wheat litter for his birthday (May- he'll be 11) and see just what he thinks of it :) Knowing him he'll eat it!
Peace,

He he he. Very funny toman :D
We just recently got 2 kittens so that my older cat would have company. We let the older one outside and will eventually let the other two out as well but it is currently too cold and snowy. So, for now we must settle with a gross litter box. I guess that's what we have to deal with for living in Canada. lol.
I can't wait until spring!!! :D

Wonder if rice hulls would work as cat litter! I live where they grow rice andthat is an abundant by-product of rice production. Never cared for cats though, since my wife's stretched it's claws in the seat of my Harley!!!!

Someone told me the other day that pine pellets work great too. It is basically the same consistency as Yesterday's News cat litter, but its a lot less expensive. It is like $4 for a 50 lbs. bag at your local feed store. And the pine absorbs a lot of the odor. I am going to go buy some next time I run out.
