View Full Version : Rehashing old relationships?

I've noticed a common thread in two recurring dreams I've been having...the first recurring dream is that I go back to visit an old ex-boss I had...and I end up working for her again.

The second recurring dream is that I come home one day and one of my ex's is living there...that she had moved back in.

The common thread to these two situations in REAL LIFE was that they were both situations that I was very happy to get into, at FIRST, but they both descended into hellishness and it was very, very messy to end both relationships.

So why am I dreaming I'm back in them? In the dreams I feel uncomfortable like I DON'T want to be doing this but I'm powerless to prevent it..

Does anybody have any insight?

dude. I've had two dreams recently that were pretty similar; both where I was with an old girlfriend and everything was awesome, and then devolved into a gnarly horror/zombie sex type of thing, overlayed with a scene from an E.R. episode I saw recently where a guy had his face blown off with a shotgun. The whole face is pretty much gone, and the jaw is swinging loose from one side, big pieces of cartiledge and stuff hanging off... super realistic. I swear I'm not making this up, it's that bizarre, especially because I don't usually have horror type dreams; I'm pretty immune to gore. Am I going insane? :D

A message for Treehugger and Toman.....

For what it's worth, I find that when I dream about events or
people from my past, such as exlovers or exjobs, it is because
it ended badly, charged with emotion, and I subconsciously
try to go back and "fix it" in my dreams. Of course, the
dream is not true to what happened, dreams tend to skitter
off in another direction once a person realizes that he or she
is dreaming, and seeks to actively change events. That is
the nature of dreams--one percent reality, five percent lies
and perceived realities, ninety three per cent mind altering
drugs, one per cent mental lint.

I dream in color...I dream in red.........

Wow! I never thought of it that way, thank you, Elf! :D So, that actually sounds like it might be right; I'm ashamed of how the situations ended in real life so I'm trying to do it over.....

Hmmm...perhaps next time i have one of those dreams I can do some sort of dialogue about it....
