I'm looking at the possibility of spending a week in Hawaii in October and I was wondering if anyone had any advice on any decent travel deals. I know all about expedia, travelocity and such, as I use them to book hotel rooms and plane tickets all the time. However, i've never actually booked an air + hotel package. Is it better to go that route or see a travel agent, maybe book the flight and hotel seperately? Just wondering. I'm still going to compare rates, but any advice anyone has is most definitely welcome.

I prefer to stay with friends, if I have any in the area. They can usually take you around to the non-tourist areas and it's free lodging. This is especially a good idea when you're out of the country.

Well, I always get pretty good rates on air/hotel packages through Expedia when I go to New Orleans.
