I love this:

Make up a pot of oatmeal- regular or quick.
After it's done and cooled pack it into a squarish container.
Cover it and refridgerate overnight.
The next day plop it out (shake it good) and cut it into pieces about the size of french toast sticks, maybe a bit bigger.
Coat it with flour and fry it in hot oil until it's lightly browned on the sides.

Now dip it in syrup, or whatever you like, and eat!

It's so cheap and delicious!

Yum,
Pedat

Hey, this does sound good. I have done this with cornmeal mush before and we love that. I'll definitely have to give this a try. Thanks.

I tried freezing them before they're fried. Made a BIG pot, formed and chilled overnight. Next day cut them to size and froze on a cookie sheet. Had about 36 sticks. Frozen is easier to handle than just chilled. They flour fine and by the time the outside is brown the inside is thawed and hot.

Now I've got frozen french oatmeal sticks for a while :)

I make those Pedata and they are so yummy!!! I make cornmeal mush as well, but I like the oatmeal b/c it is healthier.

Hey, what is cornmeal mush? For some reason that sounds so good. Is it like polenta?

Peace :)

yes... it is polenta! You just fry it up, and then put some syrup over it and it is so yummy :)

That's funny b/c I always wondered what polenta was. I thought it looked like cornmeal mush whenever I've seen it in the grocery store. Now I know..I still can't wait to try the oatmeal version. :)
