A bus left my town with a bunch of stuff once it was loaded, and my family dontated clothing, food, pots and pans, towels, a walker, and other items. I'm not sure what organization it was through though. I do know you can donate through the Red Cross and the Salvation Army. I'll be giving a monetary gift to Feed the Children.

Michael Moore sent out an email saying Cindy Sheehan was accepting donations of supplies and is personally handing them out to refugees.
Can't access the email right now but I'm sure hes got information on his website.

I'd be careful with handing over a sum of money to someone you don't know...
There are some horrible people out there that will take advantage of situations like this, unfortunately. :(

Actually I'd find it really, really hard to believe that somebody who took such delight in wreaking havock and basically destroying our site, wouldn't take delight in taking advantage of one of our members as well.
Sorry, but maybe I'm jaded...but I think they proved their real personalities when they trashed our site and then went back to theirs and laughed about it.

You can go to virtually any bank and simply make a $$$ contribution, or just watch your evening news for any number of places to drop off supplies. Really though, money is by far the most efficient way to contribute. And don't go handing over money to some random person who claims to be collecting for charity; that makes you as stupid as they are shady. I'm not sure which is worse...

I am not sending money and I know how to donate money I have done so already. I was looking for a host family or something to directly give clothing, shoes etc.. too. I have found one and the person taking these donations may have done some shady buisness but who hasnt!!!
Again, no where did I say I wanted to give a random person money!!

First of all, relax. Secondly, giving someone random clothing and food is almost the same thing as giving them money, you never know if it's going to get to the right place. If you want to give clothing, food and such, then donate it to the salvation army or the goodwill... even the americn red cross. They all have programs for hurricane relief.

Oh not a prob. Happens to everyone at one time or another :) I just didn't want people to start arguing in a thread that's meant for the well-being of others.

Actually a lot of people are moving to Vero from the affected areas, so if you want to send me a check for $2,000 I'll be happy to distribute it among them... :D Just kidding. But a lot of people are moving down here, already there are about six or seven new kids from New Orleans and Mississippi at my school, and I don't know why because we get more hurricanes than the Gulf Coast does, they'll probably just end up moving again...
