I am taking an American Indian Womens Studies class this term in college. What I need is the name of some American Indian women authors or the titles of some books they have written. Fiction is preferable, but non-fiction works as well. I have an assignment to do a book review and am not sure where to start to find what I need. I figure that any opinions or suggestions that can be offered on this forum would be ideal. So if anyone has read anything of interest and can offer some suggestions that would be greatly appreciated.
(the assignment is not due till later this semester but it is better to get a head start)

Books we already are reading for class:
-The Sacred Hoop
-Spiderwomen's Grandaughters
-A Gathering of Spirit
-Women in American Indian Society

Once again, I apprecaite any suggestions or oppinions, thank you. :D

I find your project quite intriguing as i'm 1/4 native american myself. Here's a few ideas:

1) Voices of American Indian Assimilation and Resistance: Helen Hunt Jackson, Sarah Winnemucca, and Victoria Howard

2) To the American Indian: Reminiscences of a Yurok Woman

3) American Indian Stories

Number 3 is fiction, the other 2 are non-fiction. I hope this helps!! :)

i don't know of any specific books.
perhaps, as you're in colorado (indian name 'adjusted' by the spanish) , you could check with local tribes.
