Do we have moderators? I don't see any. I hope we don't, really, lol.

Peace :)

I haven't seen one yet. There's an admin account. I've sent it some PMs. I'm hoping there is a competent moderator or admin around, as this board likes to attract trolls... And there's one little idiot kid-spammer that likes to make a nuisance of himself... But I think for the moment, he's been taken care of *prays*.

Really, this place is super vulnerable to a concerted attack from semi-knowledgeable OR semi-organized script kiddies... The administrators don't come by very often. It's the way it is. If the spamming / trolling were to get bad, I would volunteer immiedately to help out, as I have quite a bit of experience with running forums and computer and network security in general. *shrug*

Cool, thanks.

I like the idea of no moderators because it gives true freedom to everyone. But you're right, it does make the place vunerable. I don't mind a small troll war once in a while, because they're just so easy to pick on, lol.

I've been in some forums where the moderators were so consumed with moderating that it got where people had to be careful about what they said. That's the extreme tho.

You seem pretty fair about things, from what I've read in your posts. You'd make a good moderator :)

Peace,
Pedata

This new forums seems to be moderated pretty well, really. Especially compared to the old one... :) I agree with the need to deal with trolls, and there doesn't seemto be any problem of censorship here with ideas and language, which I think we can all appreciate...

Thank you for your vote of confidence

I do hope I never have to volunteer, but for some reason I've taken a liking to this place, and while I'm more than busy enough as it is right now (12-16 hour work days :o ), I would gladly take on the extra responsibilities, if only to save this little community.

At "my" forums I play the "evil" admin. I'm the one people watch out for. But I think I do it fairly - I just make sure spam and flames go where they belong (in the forum designated "Spam And Flames") - if you're spamming a thread/forum or attacking someone ad hominen with NO substance, expect me to swoop in, delete/edit/berate as necessary :P. That's not TOO overbearing, I think. And I came to that "style" after being a lot more strict (sort of in the manner I think you are referring to), but I found it led to more problems in the end (not the least of which was the stress that led to me more or less having a breakdown :/ - but I was the head admin on a board with 200 daily unique posters on slow days, so uh, 8 hours a day on the boards + school + tight-assedness led to stress)

So uh, that's my "style". Honestly, I've not been able to deduce if the admin(s) here are stylistically just lurkers by nature (and that's not a bad thing, everyone has their own style), hiding in another account (sometimes it's best to appear to be like everyone else... this is how I administer my IRC chat network - two connections, one god powers, one not. People bitch about the admins to me ^_^)... It's late and I've smoked my pre-bed bowl, so forgive my ramblings...

Anyway, I truly hope that the admins are indeed active and not MIA for days at a time...

Only because I know what I know and have the skills that I do, but... If I were so inclined I could take this place down fairly quickly. The things I know aren't state secrets, by any means, either... So I DO worry that inactivity by the administration could lead to disaster here by aforementioned script kiddies :(.

But then... Being "happyhippie", I hope they aren't just running this site for personal gain >_<... And the administrative contact address being an @somecasino.com with a site design not unlike this one's doesn't dispell that fear. Interestingly, the DNS is hosted by clearlight.com ... So even if the administrators / owners aren't quite Family (Rainbow, that is), at least The Spirit seems to be behind them (you might say "coincidence" - I say "coincidence is another word for magic").

Wow. I need sleep o_O

Oops! What I said could be misunderstood. I was talking mainly about a forum in particular. It was an old fashioned homekeeping forum and basically it turned into the moderators baby. There was no flaming or trolling because it was private member only and an application had to be approved to get in.

It got to the point where any honest opinions that didn't match the moderators where not taken kindly. The mod would come down on them. Then no one was allowed to start a new thread unless they contacted the mod for approval. Any thread that left the main topic, well, whoever changed the topic got told off! So it just got less and less posts by the members.

But this place is great :) I love the freedom to be myself in here.

Peace,

Sometimes people write please hit me,but in other words an everybody goes I´m sorry for u,love, hugs some called trolls say U must be the most stupid fuc*ing as s I´ve ever seen,an of cause they are right.
But most of the time they are only showing that they are crazy.
Moderators on the other hand usually tend to get asslickers an usually enjoys it,some of them can keep their mind balanced an let´s hope they are in this forum.
