Well, I found the new forum (if you couldn't tell, I just posted in all eight threads :rolleyes: ). I see they moved from one very old version of a very bad non-free forum system to a shiny new much better engineered (though still a non-free!) system. Kudos and Karma to the admins...
So, with this new set up, whether the admins are going to be more active or not, we can't tell, but lots of, in my eyes, bad threads have now disappeared.
We'll never be able to stop trolls from coming here and screaming at the top of their lungs (or insulting from the depths of their bowels), but we can make an effort to nip 'em in the bud (heh heh, I'm so punny). Ignorance will always be around - we should be calm, collected, and pedantic in pointing these people in the right direction, and then we should promptly ignore them. They will eventually go away, or hopefully an admin can be summoned to remove them.
Personally, I won't be taking part in the puppet threads like "yay I've just found out I can go macguiver and smoke out of... stuff.." threads, but I will be hoping they don't reappear. Useless, in my opinion, because many of those people just came to post in it and then never came back, never adding anything to the community, never really doing much but bringing threads like that back to the top.
Meh. I *am* tired now. I'm getting cranky :P.
