Age 16.
Me and my good friend, Sherrie, hickhiked to the concert.

We had no money so we panhandled until we had enough for tickets.

One of our friends was stopping cars and charging them to park. LOL. It didn't work all the time.

We got in the concert and lost each other right off.

I met a good looking friendly guy and we paired up.

I was sitting on his shoulders enjoying the concert. Some real muscular guy came up and my guy got on his shoulders. I was really way up there!!! It was awesome....

People started yelling for me to jump, and promised to catch me, but I couldn't do it.

When the concert was over me and the guy bummed a ride from some other people. They had a station wagon and some of us sat out the back window on top of the tailgate, and hung on the the luggage rack and flew home with the wind in our hair.

omg, what a trip that was.

He joined the air force later and we lost touch.

Wonderful memory. One of those perfect times :)

god he was a good kisser!

I can't remember who the bands were. Too much smoke??

Peace,
Pedata

further festival, sarasota springs ny, left Pa in the early a.m. me and a girlfriend bought 2 ten strips of acid and ate the 2-3 hits the night before we left for the show and they were no good, did nothing!! we were pissed!! so anyway the next morning we leave for the further fest and she's like fuck it lets just eat the rest of the acid Im like ok so we did and let me tell you that was one crazy ride to the show, they werent good the night before but they were damn good the next day I cant explain why, maybe the quantity but like an hour into our trip we picked up some people thank god so they drove us there, we get there and its awesome, we go down shakedown street and get some nitrose balloons and bought hash off some dude which turned out to be inscense!! and the funny thing was at the same place was a wedding reception with all the dressed up rich people coming out of this building looking around at the hippies it was great. no bathrooms either we just dropped our drawers and pee'd there were some in the show but not in the lot. oh and it was raining it felt like chinese torture on my head drip drip drip!!when we had to leave I felt that rain drop feeling on my head the whole way home!! I blew out a flip flop in the mudd too, lost my t shirt!! had some little italian dude in a yellow poncho who couldnt stand up in front of me so I helped him it,he was so cute!! and ate the best grilled / garlic cheese sandwiches ive ever had there for $1.00. oh I could go on and on or did I already!! there were these huge columned deals you could walk down people where singing and playing guitar and it echoed and with the rain it gave ya chills. that show was ass kicken too, it was a real ggod time I have lots more memories from the show but enoughs enough!!

IRATEhippie! That takes me back!
That was a great story...

Laughing my @ss off at the part about 20 people trying to ride in/on the same car. I have done that! Not with 20 people, but with just too many, lol. Tires rubbing wheels wells, don't drive into mud!

I see I am only about 5 years younger than you. So, how cool we are from the same era :)

I lived in New Jersey during Woodstock. I remember hearing some grownups gripe how the concert had brought one of the highways to a huge standstill.

But about your experience (are you experienced?)
I remember how so many people wanted to be helpful and giving. And non-judgemental. If they had it and didn't need it for themselves they would give it away. Unless they were the uptight establishment :(

Thanks for the FlashBack :)

Peace,
Pedata

well my story is not as interesting as everyone elses....but it was something completely new and different for me and i will never forget it.

the hot summer month of june...my 17th birthday. it was a small festival hosted by my favorite band Goose Creek Symphony and an old man named Lloyd, who graciously provided his cow pasture and lake for us to enjoy. not a drop of rain...only sunshine and moonlight all weekend. the stage was right on the bank of the lake. the band's vehicles, including station wagons, oldsmobiles, and old campers parked next to the stage, and the security staffs harleys ropped off toward the back. everyone passed their pipes around...to total strangers...i don't think you could ever find a more diverse group of people in one place...hippies of all ages, sex, and race...hillbillys...rednecks...business men in their kahkis...children crawling on the ground between bare legs...needless to say, i couldn't believe my eyes. then the music started. great jam bands. charlie (the lead singer for goose creek) went around talking to everyone in the crowd--something i had never seen before. i knew that the goose was about to go on stage when the rodie extrordinaire, J ray, got on stage with a saucer of weed burning, then fanned it over the crowd with a turkey feather. well, i danced and sang all night. i finally laid down in the back of our truck, but i couldnt sleep. off in the distance i heard two part harmony and a guitar accompanyment. i followed the music. the source of which was two shadowed faces and an empty bottle of maker's mark. i stood in the darkness with total strangers....we would have had nothing in commen in the real world, but on the lake, we were family...no questions needed to be asked. suddenly i heard another voice join them in their song...to my surprise, it was me.

now i cant wait until june!!!

Here's my story, might seem lame, but it was craziness at the time...it was my first acid trip, in Camden, NJ, Dead show 2003 I think...hmmm I don't remember
So my friend who I hadnt seen forever gives me a ring, she is on tour, wants me and my boyfriend to go on tour with her, she is already in PA. I call my mom who was in West Virgina with my aunt who was in the hospital to ask if I can go, she says I can and tells me to be careful. We pack a backpack, gather money, get on a bus, and off to PA. The show was the next night so we chilled with this kick ass guy she had met. He had some of the madest weed I had ever smoked, I thought I was gonna die one night. Add some cornona, fuck man. The next day we had stuff to do, get the beer for the show and shytt, and finally we left. Traffic was crazy and we packed a bowl, which apparently had coke laced in...as if this guys weed wasnt already good...I couldn't even comprehend the traffic jam, my body was going mad fast and yet we weren't, I was freakin, and we weren't even to Camden yet. When we do get there, I wasn't sure I'd make it out of the car. I couldn't feel my legs, it was crazy, but it was so nice out, sunny, the water was right there. Me, my man, and the girl get out and walk around, we'll meet up with our ride later that night after all is said and done, or so I hoped. We never got tickets, so the lot was a home for the night. We walked for ever, I took in the sights, the sounds, the friendly folk, I had never seen anything like it. Somehow another guy joined us who was selling doses and shrooms. He tagged along until the VERY end, but dosed us for free...my first trip. Alls I can say is WHOLLY SHYTT! I didn't think it was working but that bridge made sure it was. The water tripped me out, everything did, it was just sheer craziness. Some guy tried to get with me while me and my man were standing together, creepy guy man, The lights and everything, the faint sound of the dead, putting back beer like they were water (im such a lightweight) and smoking lots of weed, it was a cocktail of craziness. Eventually, and to add the girl we were with was being weird all night, the show ended and the nitrous came out. Everywhere we walked, that noise, the police, police where everywheres, i was sketching. The guy calls and tells us to come meet him, time to leave, the girl doesn't want to, he is our ride, she is our key to go back with him, I start freakin on her. Cops start surrounding us, I didn't know it at the time, they rush us off the premicise. THe guy comes and finds us, I'm freakin, we get in the car, we are off. SHe was going crazy, yelling, screaming, trying to get out of the car, tells us she dosed us just to lose us, I'm mad. I dont know what to do, must sleep. We get back, sleep, I wake up, no buses home, fuck. I call my mom who is in WV, she happens to be on her way home, she was up at the top of PA, she comes back to Philly to get us. We are free, and I was still trippin'. That was a crazy experience but I loved every second.

I write alot, sorry everyone!
Peace

Naw, Nappy my friend theres already a war on "drugs", theres a war on "terror", I think someone said our leader has just started a war on "nature" (post sunami response) Hows 'bout a "war" on war. As redundant as it might seem, I think with the right P.R. it could really take off. Whadda ya think? PEACE BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND! P.S. I don't do drugs cuz I'm being a daddy. :D Peace Bro.

i don't do/never have done drugs... i became a mama really young and i just never got into it because i didn't want it around my kids and i wanted to always be sober so i can do the mama thing good... i smoked a cigarette once just to see what it was like, but it made me stink and gave me a headache and i just never wanted to do that again... my husband did drugs when he was in high school and college - mostly pot and acid and speed (is speed and acid the same thing? i dunno...) but by the time he met me all he did was drink and smoke pot and ciggarettes... he doesn't even do that anymore... we're a totally sober happy healthy fam. we have red wine once in awhile... i hear one glass of that a night can be good for you...

if my boys ever get to a place where they want to experiment/try drugs i would want them to do it in our home so i could be there with them, i'd hate to think of them passing out or something worse and me not being there to take care of them... also because my husband has been there/done that he would know what to do and would be a good source for info...etc... but i know that they will probably try it elsewhere, too, and that's why we're getting them cellphone's when they're 15! i've also thought about getting them some sort of ID that they could wear on them like dog tags or something or a tattoo on their hand or something lol... hee hee i want to brand my kids! is that so wrong?

i remember reading somewhere about a GPS tracking device you can have actually implanted under your kids skin... i mean... in a way it's a cool idea... but it's also so freaking scary... pretty soon it'll be part of the routine hospitals do when babies are born without parents even knowing... you know? yikes... i'm really glad i had my kids with a midwife at her house... i was terrified of my kids being taken away from me after birth and being held my nurses with steril gloves on and masks and the thought of them getting misplaced or something... aaaahhhh....

ok... it makes me crazy just thinking about it. lol today my son called me from school and he wanted to ride the bus home from school with one of his friends to play at another friends house... i was like HELL NO!!! ok so i didn't react exactly like that, but i did tell him no way. while i know my kids friends because i'm always in the classroom helping out, i don't know their parents and don't know where they live. man my heart was pounding so hard just the thought of my boy riding a bus to somewhere i don't know where with people i don't know...

ugh. i'm gonna have to let him grow up sometime, but right now is NOT the time... lol

The nurses wear those gloves (I am going to be a nurse when I grow up...in about 2 years!) to protect your newborn from GERMS. You should SEE the germs that cover your hands. Yuck. I hope your midwife at least wore gloves. Yuck. End obsessive/compulsive rant. However, the kids were in my room the entire hospital stay, excepting the time at which they had to get circumcized, and for one other medical thing. So I understand where you are coming from, about losing the baby! Our kids' school made up these sort of ID cards, with their current year's picture, and all of their info on them. Nice thought. I wouldn't mind an implanted GPS tracking implant, so long as the GOVERNMENT isn't able to track them for any reason. It would have to be just in case of emergency.

Anyway, I think I am going to have to add beadiebeauty to my iggy list. omggggggggg ;)

Where is this Bob Marley festival you speak of? If it is in Kingston, I definitely will not be in attendance, that could get quite expensive. Please tell me it is somewhere in the states!

I went with my friend to the Faerieworlds Festival in Oregon last summer. I plan to go again this summer. There were several bands that played but I especially loved Woodland and Trillian Green. We camped there overnight and had an amazing time under a full moon. I traveled from Illinois to enjoy the festival. Anyone else been to the Faeriewolds Festival?

Blessings,

Early 90's, my first Dead Show. What an unforgetable experience ~ except the part where I fell asleep during the show because of the partying in the parking lot! :D Anywhys, before the show, my hubby and I (boy friend at the time) were walking around ~ you know, meeting as many people as we could ~ talked and smoked with so many.... Anyways, this man and woman, probably in their 50's, stopped me and said,"look at the beautiful dots in the sky". I was confused. I looked up, and ever so small were 3 dots. Balloons that were about to go thru a cloud. This inspired me. I was so happy that this gentleman would stop me, of all people, he chose me, and showed me such this beautiful site. I will never forget that. 3 different colored balloons that were the sizes of dots. Thank you to that wonderful couple for chosing me. Then must have known that I would appreciate this site! Peace and Love! And may the Dead live on! We love you! have a GRATEFUL DAY!

OH, a funny experience at a Neal Young show, I had just delivered my first baby 3 months prior. I was a faithful breastfeeding mama. WELL, it was the first time I had been away from my baby. SO ~ I knew that my body might leak, so i was prepared with a pump. We were at the front trying to in the show and I got searched. The stupid security people thought my breast pump was a bong. what dumb asses  . I kept yelling ,"It's a fuckin' breast pump!" Finally, they had a female guard come over, and she let me go. Now I look back and it was funny as hell, but at the time ~ I was pissed. Have a GRATEFUL DAY!! Peacefully, Luvingmama!
