Because many people fail to understand the most basic elements of the war we are in, I have decided to start handing it out piecemeal.

For starters, I will list those countries with whom America is at war. Further, each is followed by a number 1 - 5. 1 indicates a hot war and 5 a cold war.

Morrocco 5
Algeria 4
Tunisia 5
Mauritania 4
Lybia 4
Egypt 5
Sudan 4
Somalia 4
Ethiopia 3
Eritria 3
Djibouti 3
Palestinian occupied Israel 3
Lebanon 5
Syria 3
Jordan 5
Iraq 1
Saudia Arabia 4
Yemen 4
Oman 5
United Arab Emirates 5
Bahrain 5
Qatar 5
Iran 3
Afghanistan 1
Pakistan 3
Turkmanistan 4
Uzbekistan 4
Kazahkstan 5
Tajikstan 4
Kyrgystan 4
Malaysia 5
Indonesia 5

The center of gravity for this conflict is the Middle Eastern countries of Syria, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan and Saudia Arabia.

The problem is these are not "wars". They are the result of our being used as a police force all across the world. (I have huge issues with the UN and our own gov't over this, but I won't go there for now.) It was not our place to begin with, and it isn't now either.

What I really see from these numbers is a lot of places we have no business interfering. These are (mostly) heavily Muslim countries whose culture and religion we not only don't understand, we don't even give basic respect for. How can we expect any of them to have any respect for us, when we ridicule their entire identity?

To win the "war in Iraq", the only thing that can be done is genocide. What is effectively happening in Iraq right now is that we have sparked a civil war, and picked sides. This is going to get sooooo much worse before it has a hope of getting better. We have neither the manpower to keep this up, nor the public support to see it through to its nasty end. Toss in problems with the other places in the world where we have issues (say, China or Korea for instance) and we have way more on our plate than we can handle. Even PNAC admits it.

I had no problem with us going after bin Laden and his cronies, militarily, but the leap to Iraq was too much for me, even at the beginning of this mess. It reeked too much of "Let's give 'em something to keep the public focused on and busy, so they don't notice that we can't find the real criminals." Originally, it was maybe not too bad a plan...till the realization began to dawn on people that the only thing we were fighting for over there was saddam's oil fields and to push democracy on a country that was not ready for it yet. Especially when the general public began to understand that what we had done was commit to at least a generations worth of being there as backing to shore up an unstable situation. Add in a little guilt over being the reason saddam was in power in the first place, and you begin to see just how much of a polluted mess this war is. There are many different agendas being pushed by our gov't, very few have anything to do with the true well being of the people of this country. Trace the money, and you'll find a never ending rabbit hole.

Not only is this situation a result of meddling in places we shouldn't have, but we essentially skipped them over several steps in what should be their revolution, not one we started and are manipulating to get the results we desire from. Revolution is a natural response to tyranny, but it had to be their response, not ours, to truly be fruitful.

The problems are numerous...the solutions are far out of reach, and none of them are good.

Okiemama, with every post you write (very eloquently, I might add,) you increase triplefold my respect for you. I enjoy reading your opinions and your take on the subject at hand. :)

to lhswb from hippie_chick666:

since lhswb seems unable, incapable or unwilling to respond,

i'll give my interpretation of his information source:

"The center of gravity for this data is
located in the Middle of the trousers,
South of the belly button,
North of the knees,
where the Sun don't shine."

surprise, lhswb, no vulgarities
