Some Pictures

All taken with my new Powershot A520. I guess they're not too bad for having been my first time really trying to take a good picture, but they aren't very good either =\

although you've the beginning of 'the eye',
you have also discovered, photography isn't just point and shoot.

you've got an excellent tool in your Powershot A520.
however, kiddo, you've the equivalent of a jet.
autopilot is a great thing but it ain't flying.
ya gotta learn to fly first.

small items like exposure settings,
using f-stops, depth of field, fill flash,
and framing come into play.
i'd suggest finding a class at the local community center or junior college
in black and white photography to get some basic instruction.
i know this may sound mean, it's not meant as such.
shooting, developing and printing your own film, negatives and prints
will give you a good 'feel' of what photography is about.

i know, 'black and white pictures? eew'.

keep in mind Mathew Brady and Ansel Adams.

how about the one of the sailor and the nurse kissing in NYC on the day the war (WWII) was over.

the flower in the rifle at Kent State.

the look on a kid's face while eating ice cream on a HoT dAy.

the puppy and kitten sound asleep after a day's play
(okay, half hour).

when you know how your tools work, the tools will do your work.

the artist, not the equipment, make the statement.

egad, :o , i've become preachy.

i'm just saying, learn some stuff to enjoy even more.
