Since Clear Channel wouldn’t publish our one billboard in Bentonville AR, we’re publishing 10,000! We produced 10,000 bumper stickers with the same message and design of the original billboard, and distributed them, free of charge, to the communities where the billboard’s message most needs to be seen.
10,000 bumper stickers have been distributed to community groups (like those featured below) working to stop Wal-Mart from coming to town and closing down small businesses. We encourage you to learn more and support their fights below.

You're lucky. They are an eyesore, they run mom and pop stores out of business, they attract the weirest (and sleeziest) people in town, and with the introduction of McDummie's in the back next to the deli, it smells the place up with grease and obesity.
And that's not tackling how they treat their employees.

Walmart does suck, and it sucks you in. I dont go often but I do admit to going once in a blue moon. Its sad because after they run everyone outta buisness, there all thats left. There may be a few little stores left but there prices are so much more, and on a budget every penny counts. It really does suck, walmart is so trashy but most of the people who go there have no choice they cant afford to shop elsewhere. I admit to being disgustesd by it and also sometimes not having an option to go, like when my son was in diapers, id go there cause they were sooooo much cheaper. I know that doesnt make it right.

Wal-Mart seriously scares me... especially since they joined forces with McDonalds.
I can't say much, because I live in small-mountain-town nowhere, way too small for anyone to even want to build a Wal-Mart, but I can't leave town without seeing one, they're EVERYWHERE. And with the way this town is going, I wouldn't be surprised if we DID end up with one, soon. I remember almost crying as I sat and watched out the window while they tore down the old corner store. The guy that owned it was old and ready to retire, and nobody wanted to take over such a small little store when they can make more working as a cashier or bag person at the grocery store. It was an old log cabin, and the owner lived in a trailer just behind the store. It's a gorgeous little field with huge trees, and a lot of moss and mushrooms grow there in the Summer... and now, they're getting ready to take it all down and drown it in concrete and metal.
My stepdad said he remembered it from when he was young. The guy that owned it would always give him drinks and candy. Even at 16-17, I'd go in to buy a drink, pull something around 50 cents out of my pocket, and he'd go "Oh no, that's enough" before I reached in for the rest. He would always give candy to my little sister, and any time he or his wife saw one (or both) of us walk by, they'd come out and talk to us.
We need more of those. I knew I'd see it go, some day, but I tried so hard to convince myself that it would be there forever. Where else can you go in barefoot with your dog, buy bait, and have the old guy behind the counter tell you to make sure you think of him while you're out on the lake, because he can't even drive any more and he misses the old fishing boat that he sold to your dad almost 30 years ago? You certainly wouldn't hear that in Wal-Mart.

WE almost had a Wal-Mart in our town. We could have used one. Not saying its good but we dont have small buissineses we have crack houses and pawn shops and factories whose jobs have been sent to Mexico. The Wal-Mart that was built the next county over brought in a lot of small buissineses that are doing wonderfully I guess one in a million this Wal-Mart would have bewen good for the community but it was. I still dont agree with their treatment of woman who work there...I guess thats why there are a million women sewing them.
I don't know about the situation in the United States with Wal-Mart, but here in my City in Canada[60 miles west of Toronto], Wal-Mart is doing well, and the area that they are in has developed because of them, yes small Mom and Pop businesse's do not exist in the area, but since Wal-Mart has come in we have seen Boston Pizza,Chucky Cheese[now they suck],Home Depot, and many smaller chains all build in the same lot area, or across the street in an area that was just a vacant concrete sea. As for employees, again, i can not speak for everyone but, my Wife works for them and is well treated, paid very well[$10.60/hr], has a Dental plan, eyecare plan,Drug plan as well as profit sharing and of course the stock options. On the health plan Wal-Mart pays 90% of all costs, which is as good as or in some cases better than some factories. When my Wife had to be hospitilized, she received sick benifits, so did not miss any wages. She receives 3 weeks a year paid holiday. And no she is not management, but a floor worker. Now is it perfect, no, but what job is? As for their effect on the city's, Well i seem to remember when in the late 50's thru the 60's the big worry was the build up of the new "Malls" and the concern that they would destroy Mom and Pop businesses, it is always going to be there so i guess we must just learn to live with the devil. :bawl:

I actually wish that my boyfriend would be willing to shop at wal-mart because it's so much cheaper. I know that it is a terrible super mega chain that eats every business it comes into contact with, but when you are hard pressed for money like we are, saving $30 at every shopping trip really adds up when you go every week. ($120 a month... $1440 a year...) Plus they are starting to sell organic food at our Walmart, which is great because I can get organic milk for $2.50 there while it's $3.69 at Publix and so on. I would love to have the luxury of being frivolous with money, but when you can't be places like Walmart really help you cut costs so you can use that extra thirty bucks to pay the electric bill, which is crazy expensive now too.

Feel really thankful that you ever had that sort of experience at all, I wish that I could have had that, I miss friendly relationships. Here in Vero it is all about "get out of my way, I have places to be and a family to ignore so I can work twenty hours overtime!!" People are so disconnected from each other and it's really sad, I must admit I have a "get out of my way" mentality at times too, I didn't used to before I moved here... :(
And if Walmart and McDonald's join with Google they will take over the world, just wait and see...

No it is not union. As for unions, they have tried to orginise walmart's but have failed. The only one that got a union soon closed. :ufo:
