my best friend (in the whole wide world) told me that she is pregnant! its a girl, due may 5th. her first child. she's got the whole single, teenage mom thing goin on. so i'm like gonna be it's female dad. anyway, we need a name! we cant think of anything. well, i can think of a million names but she doesn't like any of my ideas! my friend wants something different, but not too different. she likes tom boy names...boy names for girls...
we'd really appreciate any suggestions. feel free to suggest...please suggest... :D

Harris, Dale, Riley, Charlie, Regan, Cody, Ryan, Micah, Warner(wanted that for our baby's middle name, but we had another boy.), Moe. I don't know, I liked girlie names, when I thought we were having a girl. Autumn Grace, Autumn Riley, Autumn Warner (I know, WAY too many Autumns these days), Gertrude Riley, I can't really be of help, as my list of girlie names goes on and on.
When we found out that we had a boy(at birth), I wanted Oslo. But we have Thor. Named for the God of Thunder in Norse Mythology, it suits him QUITE well. God of Thunder, indeed. My husband is Norwegian, can you tell? ;)

I hadn't given any thought to the name Poppy, but I've seen it here a few times and I really like it. Ah, food for thought! We decided on Polly, but I'll have to run Poppy by Jay and see what he thinks.
Peregrine, I'm not due until August 30th. I thought I was due a little sooner, but I had an ultrasound this week and I'm only eight weeks pregnant. I've got a loooooong road ahead of me. Because this is my second pregnancy, I can already tell. My lower belly is sticking out the itsiest bitsiest bit. They say you show a lot sooner the second time.

I just had a little boy who we named Keagen (it means fiery) but we had Maize Hope or Fairlight James as our top two girl names.
Good luck to you and your friend. My first child is now 10 years old. I had her as a teen (16) and it was a long hard journey but one I don't regret in an instant. We named her Leticia meaning happiness and she has lived up to her name 100% :)

How about tree (marijuana) names... Many are even less applicable, but some are actually pretty nice.
Let's see, aside from obvious no-no's like catpiss and dogshit or chem and afghooey, there's plenty with good interesting names that might also be applicable to a person. Below, a collection of marijuana strain names that might also make good girl names (and they are all very lovely ladies, these buds). Bolded is the relevent portion of the strain name if there are extra parts
akala (hawaiian, I have no idea what it means but it sounds sexy)
cindy99 (cinderalla 99) (there really aren't enough girls named cinderella these days)
black domina
coral reef
jack candy
livity
netty
princess bob (heehee)
shiva shanti
trinity (I have a sister with this name)

Look to other ethniticities.
What will the babys roots be? Like the father and mother have what in their blood?
Where was she concieved?
With what intentions or emotions involved?
What hope may the child carry?
Just as i was raised on the premise that one should not live with their partner before marriage, why should the child have a name before you see and touch them? Words, names are important- in some way i think we become it and the title becomes us.
But i really think the roots part is important to who we are.
History often helps in self understanding.

We're still in the process of choosing.
We're pretty settled on Jones for a boy with his middle name being Buckley and his last name being Holler. Jones Buckley
For girls we're thinking about Chase, Charlie or Abbigail.
Idunno...
My also-pregnant friend's last name is Pinkerton and she's naming her daughter Daisy. How cute is that? Daisey Pinkerton. I love it!
