arrested for dui,
given probation,
license suspended,
violating probation twice driving on suspended license,
sentenced to 45 days for probation violation,
sentence reduced to 23 days,
released after 3 days due to 'medical' condition,
and placed under house arrest with ankle bracelet.

justice under the 'Golden' rule.

if it had been a poor beer cadging Mexican,
he would still be in jail.

justice is blind or blonde.

I feel like I should probably consult Perezhilton.com before I draw any conclusions.

Exactly the issue. Our penal system is so overwhelmed with illegals and people being incarcerated for petty non-violent offenses like drug posession/sales that there is no room and no resources for the people who truly need the services and rehabilitation. An old friend of mine was recently arrested for shoplifing from a large store, more that $1000. He has a severe problem with opiates. He did 14 days in jail, and was kicked loose. Guess what: Now he's a convicted felon for life, can never vote, own a firearm or get a decent job, home loan, etc. and he's still hooked on drugs. His life sucks, and the resources that we tax payers are funding were not available to him, because of the fucked up leftist priciples influencing and governing our leagal and penal system. Hell, the entire country, for that matter. Am I saying we should back Bush, support and fund war and vote republican? Hell no, but it's painfully obvious that the left is every bit as bad as the right...

house arrest was not an option during sentencing.
the judge would not allow it.
the sheriff overstepped his authority and let her go.
his job is to enforce laws
not decide how they should be administered.

toman, your friend did it to himself.

Hahahah, well, yeah, don't all criminals "do it to themselves"? What's your poitn? The issue is that because the system is broken and corrupt, it didn't work. He recieved no rehabilitation, nothing has changed, his life is basically ruined now because of the felony conviction, and if anything, he's even more likely now to commit more crimes. What do you think he'll do when nobody will hire him, and he has no $$$ to buy drugs? Stop using? Yeah right! Thus, more crime, more pointless jail time, more convictions, and a more ruined life. That's not how the system is supposed to work! The legal and penal systems were not designed or intended to serve the sole purpose of destroying the lives of otherwise good people! Yet, all that money that you and I pay in taxes, that's what it accomplishes. I paid money to the government so that they could afford to house and feed millions of illegal immigrants and petty drug dealers, while at the same time destroying the life of my old friend when they should have been helping him.

Who gives a flying shit about paris hilton or any celebs life for that matter.

Id say let the system take care of her like any other person. Jail time or other.

We spend way to much time worrying about what "they" are doing, eating , smoking, kissing. WHO FREAKIN CARES.

off subject huh.

Anyway............. ;)

I second that. If it was a poor beer cadging Mexican, we wouldn't know about it anyways. Paris and the others are no different than one of the Mexicans.

I actually do feel bad for Paris. From what I see as a casual observer, she has some serious problems, and needs to get help. Putting her in jail for a while may bring her to here senses, but the public humiliation surely is doing more harm than anything else. And yes, of course she has brought all this on herself (I guess, she didn't exactly choose to be born a super hot rich girl), but she's still a human being facing the same difficulties we all do. I personally find the fact that much of America is getting some sick thrill and entertainment out of the ordeal disgusting, and I think those people really ought to be ashamed of themselves. Just because you envy another person's lifestyle (admit it, you hippy fags, you do) or dislike their personality (sure, I do too!) doesn't make it right to make light of their sickness or misfortune.

Uh... what kind of personal problems does Paris Hilton have? I doubt that she has some sort of chemical dependency. She's apparantly ADD, but so is everyone else in America these days. Of all the young celebrity girls who are often mentioned with her, she seems to be the most sane and polished. That being said, it is entirely possible that you know something that I do not, being that I do not care. But Paris Hilton seems reasonably intelligent and what she lacks in talent she more than compensates for with charisma. I can't really feel sorry for her. But, I do wish that I looked like her. I DO envy her beauty. It's true. Every word of it.

I think that our culture, being the spiritual black hole that it is. And being void of anything beneficial to your spirit or to your soul. We are Spoiled rotten and prone to excess anyways, we build and worship GODS as it pleases us. Almost like a Monday night quarterback we live vicariousley though these Gods we create, we delight in their triumphs and share in their falls. However, since we built them up ourselves we grow tired, disappointed, disenchanted with them easily. So we then begin to tare them down, and delight in doing so. We gossip and laugh at the unflattering photos now being released ( the media knows before we do), we distance ourselves from last months American Idol in order to make room for the new much cooler, not stupid ones. In Perez we trust.

Am I the only person who doesn't think Paris is hot? Maybe it's just the fact that she acts like a total airhead. I have to admit that I have been enjoying her drama more than I would like but only because she seems so arrogant. I have a hard time feeling sympathy for people who think they are above the law. I do think it's sad that our society takes so much pleasure in other peoples pain though.

Well, I guess hot or not is a matter of personal taste. I think she looks good. Fake, perhaps, but well done anyway! :) I just don't like the way everyone has it in for her, getting a cheap thrill out of watching someone they envy suffer. Like pulling the wings off of flys or torturing kittens; sure she expected somebody to bail her out and expected to be above the law, she's lived her entire life that way and now she's facing reality and it sucks. I just don't see other people enjoying that the way they are. I guess it just goes to show the nature of most Americans, that rather than empathise with a fellow human they'd rather make a spectacle of his suffering for their own delight. Way to go folks, sleep well tonight...
