I got a request in email to post the following letter, so here it goes;
Hullo,
I co-chair a grassroots group in Sudbury, Ontario that has worked hard to protect an urban forest in our community (originally slated for immediate development).
After much effort, we gained City Council approval for an agreement to bring this land into public ownership to be protected as greenspace. As part of this agreement, we are responsible for securing $50,000 towards the acquisition. We are half-way there - mostly from individual contributions from people who care about greenspaces. This is a big goal for a small grassroots group!
I hope you will allow us to make a posting on your site to let people know about the need for donations. Gift cards in recognition of donations are also available for a green gift idea...
