What are YOUR opinions? I'd prefer noone quoting or linking to research, as that's not an opinion.
I think it can do a lot of people a lot of good, as long as it's used properly. I've seen tons of positive changes because of it, but it's also caused a lot of horrible things to happen to some people very close to me. To me, the key is if you use it or if you abuse it.

I'm not opposed to it in general, but I think it's taken advantage of far too often. I used to live in California, and the only people I ever met with cannibus cards didn't actually need them, they just wanted better bud, ha. They're fairly easy to get a hold of.
As for recreational use, I think it's fine in moderation. I don't smoke anymore, because I've realized I really hate the high I get from it. What makes me angry is people that only talk about blazing, like their life centers around their pipe, bong, papers, etc. I guess for recreational use, my thoughts are: in moderation, and remember that life's great without it.
For medicinal uses, I've got no issue. The side effects are just as numerous as any other over-the-counter or prescription medicine. And if the effects are going to help someone, go for it.

I think anytime you can opt for a holistic approach to your health and well being it is the better choice. If smoking helps then I think by all means smoke, but some do take advantage of it, medicinal or otherwise.
Now I am a smoker, have been for a long time, I really enjoy it. To me it feels natural, calming and I dont abuse it or talk about it, or brag about it. It does not control me, or make my day. But to some I guess it does.
So, I say legalize!!!! Its far better then almost all of the garbage the fda approves, to "help" people. Im all for legalization medical and recreational.
Also hemp, hemp should be legal to grow, so stupid its not.

I second that. I have small children so I don't smoke often. I am not comfortable with the thought of not being there for them if they need me. That being said, I feel like I'm a better person if I can truly relax once in awhile. For me pot has fewer side effects than alcohol. I know that if something needs taken care of I will still be able to do it, though it may take a little more motivation. :D For me the key is making sure that everything that needs to be done is taken care of. After that, I think that how I relax in my own home should be my choice.
I have never been able to understand why alcohol is legal and pot isn't. When was the last time you saw someone get in a fight or cause trouble when they were high on cannibus? It's one of those things that is not likely to hurt anyone but the person doing it. For the most part smokers are happy people and even when they're not it doesn't seem worth the energy required to hurt other people. :D I haven't spent time with a lot of people when they were high so I could be wrong but I believe in "everything in moderation". :hippie:

I feel that the end all of this issue is "my body, my choice." The government has no right to tell any American what they can or can not put into his or her own body.
I know for a fact (from reading various studies, trying myself, and having friends who smoke) that it helps greatly with anxiety, panic attacks, poor appetite, headaches and chronic pain.
Also, it has no negative side effects, unless you count the munchies and sometimes sleepiness as negative. Im interested to know what negative side effects the second poster was referring to.

By "side effects" I was talking about the sleepiness. My point is that (I'm talking about medicinal uses) the side effects are way milder than most prescription medicines, which often to do as much or more harm than good.

My drug of choice is caffeine..as I need it to get me through the day. I don't like smoking, personally. I had chronic bronchitis from the time I was born to an adult, so I have fragile crappy lungs.
However, I am pro-medicinal marijuana, as I have seen the benefits firsthand. A relative with cancer, had to wait for two weeks before she could get into surgery to remove a huge painful tumor in her abdomen. The only thing that worked..ONLY THING...was pot. I believe she ate it (Choco-Toke-less-Brownies ;) ) since she was in the hospital at the time. It relieved the pain and she was able to sleep normally. Her doctor was aware of it, and looked the other way, as even he realized it was a good option.
No prescription pain reliever at the hospital worked, or relieved pain without completely zonking her out. I know others (older peeps) who have taken it for glaucoma and arthritis as well. In comparison to the chemically created prescription drugs with side effects, this wins hands down. I don't get why this is even an issue still w/ many states.

No prescription pain reliever at the hospital worked, or relieved pain without completely zonking her out.Wanna know why? Opiate-based painkillers. Something I've never believed to be a good idea.

Legalize all the naturally growing herbs. Personally pot gives me a bad headache but that's me.

That's my point exactly. How can the government make illegal the use of a naturally growing plant? Or a fungus for that matter. My idea of a drug is something that is altered then chemically processed, like coke or heroin, not weed.

Me and my friends all experiment with drugs although pot is the only frequent substance. I have not been able to smoke due to drug tests every week. But I personally believe it is a great thing that should be showed respect by everyone and not looked down upon.

I agree KB!
I use it in moderation, well I've been using it more than I usually do b/c it's helping me get over the nicotine jitters and such. But usually a bowl a day and I'm fine. I also use it for ritual purposes.
