The closest I've gotten was the feeling of floating above my bed. I never ventured out of the room. Now I have done deep meditation where I saw images of loved ones who had passed, and images of what I felt was of the future. Nothing spectacular on the future, just getting married and such.

I like to meditate and sometimes I cnat snap out of them, I know whats going on around me but I am stuck in this surreal time, its so odd feeling and very refreshing. I feel like I am almost out of my body, like I am one giant mind, lol hard to describe

i have but whenever i am having them it's surreal enough that i am more fascinated by the floating and i never do anything cool
what i mean by cool is sometime i will head over to my pals house and see if i can affect somethign in the physical world, then call him and ask about it
the guy that clued me into meditation and stuff like that said it's not unheard of, told me to try to make an alarm clock go off. he's into the transindental(sp) bit, and that is pretty fascinating all by itself

I did have that experience..having my daughter. I opted for all natural birth at a hospital, no pain killers at all. I had the mother of all hissy fits when they wanted to put an IV in as a 'precaution' - they were just chomping on the bit to pump me up with drugs.
The pain was nothing short of brutal, so I had to remove myself mentally to deal with it. Having broken many bones in the past, I can say broken bones are mere annoyances compared to this pain. I was there physically, but mentally not..I would tune in for vital instructions from my doula or doctor, but other than that....I felt like I was observing from outside my body.
Right when the pain was the worse, and I thought my body was going to rip in half, and an alien was going to run up my chest.. I kept reminding myself that no one ever actually died from 'pain'. Wounds, yes. Pain, no. That's when I 'left' and can only describe the sensation as being away from my body, but still connected..and almost like I was in a crowded restaurant, where you hear the 'din of the noise', but you're not hearing every conversation. My body was on autopilot, and had a job to do. It would of been dumb for my brain to get in the way.
The good news is my complete labor was only 4 hours. I let my body do the work, and it spit out a baby. Go body!
Having said that, I'm not doing that baby thing again. haha.

Howdy,
Yeh, I had an OOBE (Out Of Body Experience) around 1970. I was a hippie freak back then, and dabbled in meditation and was aware of astral projection. It was bedtime, and I was lying in bed trying to slow done my heart rate and "forget" my body. I felt myself float up toward the ceiling - and was so startled that it actually happened that I snapped back to normal (and awake).
I tried for many years afterwards to repeat the OOBE, but to no avail. Being a young and horny kinda guy, I fantasized how great it would be to spiritually float into girl's locker rooms and the hot babe next door's bedroom. Perhaps my less-than-noble intent blocked my success!

Like when Don Juan and Genaro had Carlos going from the top of the cliff to the bottom over and over again. Carlos didn't know who the real me was. I love those stories.

I have dreams where I am swimming in the air too - and I am always naked in them.
I just thought they were cool dreams.
Astral Projection is a completely different experience as 99% of the time it is done consciously with the mind awake and alert.
I have been practicing AP'ing for nigh on 20 years now but as yet have to experience a complete projection. I just haven't dedicated the time and energy I need to to achieve this. Some people it happens to easier than others.
Two excellent authors I can highly recommend on this subject are Robert Petersen and Robert Monroe.
The Teachings of Don Juan and A Separate Reality are two books I have read numerous times - they are very enjoyable. I have been waiting to find the other ones in the series at a reasonable price for ages.

This is a absolute pure gold example of an out of body experience. Props to you staff member! Same thing went for me whenI had my son in 2004, not doing it again either! Did you end up taking the IV? Peace Out! Emili:hippie:

The main one I was thinking of was Journey to Ixtlan.
What others has he done (too lazy to google).

"Journey to Ixtalan"...Tackle the Shadow to Begin the "Journey." Still trying... shadows are hard to tackle. Spooky Shadows are the hardest...and the ones in the dark night...the dark night is one giant Shadow... Excuse me, do you know the way to Ixtalan?:mixed-smi
