Hello all,
I would appreciate any people in the happy hippie community with knowledge of natural treatments or remedies for depression. I haven't been that low for some time now but it would be great to know of alternative treatments instead of running to a doctor and asking for anti- depressants. I know they are more than willing to hand them out. :flutter

Sorry you've been down. My husband has bouts with depression as do I occasionally (about once a month :) ). I have found Saint John's Wort to be very effective. Also, if you find you have trouble sleeping try a blend of Valerian and Saint John's Wort.
Hope you feel better soon. :hippie:

I never understood depression as an illness. My sister has it and I just never understood because she has a great life, whereas with the things I go through daily just trying to get by since I moved out people are constantly telling me they would be depressed when I am just loving life. IS there something I just dont get?

I can back St. John's Wort. Yes this clown does cry from time to time due to depression. Julie got to see it first hand after the holiday. I will say this to you ladies, St. John's Wort has been responsible for causing pregnancy. How so? it can cancel out your birth control.

That's why I stick to St John's Wort. We all have down times eventually but that doesn't mean we need to be medicated. Don't get me wrong, some people are chemically imbalanced but not nearly as many as take medication. In my experience, many people just don't think they should ever feel sad and don't want to take the time to deal with the underlying issues.
Kudos on your positive out look. :D

Toda.
I guess I can understand that. I think part of why Im not depressed is just that, when something is bothering me I let it out and once I have it is over.
