no wait... I might be a secular humanists (where is the connection there?) or perhaps a universal unitarian (I guess I fit all sizes)

Well just make sure that you know alot about alot of different religions before you decide to not be any of them or a mixture of them. Because I considered myself an agnostic until I read into Buddhism. I'm not sure that I know enough to call myself one yet, but if I were you I'd read into it. (less than encouraging remarks about Buddhism removed)

You might enjoy reading the Tao Te Ching (also called Dao De Jing). By all means read more than one translation because they vary a lot, but it's a short book so that isn't a burden. If you find you enjoy it, then read Zhuang Zhi (also called Chuang Tse), he was an early Daoist with a helluva sense of humor. Both concern Daoist philosophy, not "religious Daoism" as it is today. That's a whole 'nother matter. ;)

The "it's a short book" comment is a bit of a jest. It is indeed physically a short book ... but you could reread it every day of your life and still not unravel it all. That said, I believe you'll get the point the first time you read it - subsequent readings are just a refinement.

How do you know what's right for you? I went to a catholic school as a kid but I'm not a christian or anything. I believe in Karma that's for sure but I have done a lot of questioning since I was a teenager. I don't know.

the only thing can do, really, is to just go out there and just try everything
read up on a lot of different religions and base your ultimate decision of that
if you go to the about.com religions section you can get a basic over view of a lot of different ones.

*nods* read about them all! They're all really interesting, and right in their own context I think.

I'm a big fan of Tibetan Buddhist philosophies myself XD

there is a reason its the most popular belief system in the world, I hesitate to call it a religion

No, it's definatley not a religion in my definition of a religion. It's more of a following.
