Hi everyone,
I'm concerned about the threat of nuclear power staions here in Oz. If i'm correct, there are only about 2 or 3 here.. and many want it kept that way. We get plenty of sun here in Oz so i don't understand why we can't just go for solar. N.P.S are expensive and ugly...go away we don't wat you.

NP's are a great lure and an excellent band-aid. A lot of power and little polution... UNTIL BANG... EVEN MORE POWER AND EVERLASTING POLLUTION.
But hey, you will see better with a third eye.
Solar power is the obvious solution. Of course, the politicians will warn you they don't know where the sun goes at night and whether or not it will return the next day.. so how can they commit? (Yes, I stole that from someone... a comedian, but I forget who).
Wind power is another solution. The key is to set aside land so they don't mare the landscape too much.
That is a good post. You raise a very good point!

I dont get it either. why spend tons and tons of money to utilze NP, when the suns energy is free. It all revolves around the power and who has it. Instead of a species of takers we need to revert to a species of levers. Anyone read Ishmael??? Best Gorilla ever, he knows whats up.

I had read, Libra, that people in the NP industry (like Mr. Burns) have spread a lot of propaganda about how we consume too much energy to be able to harness the power of the sun AND wind. BS back then, BS now. They made it sound like if the people of this country will not reduce the amount they use b/c it would hurt the consumer industry and so on.
Nuclear is actually clean energy, but with the technology we have we can only get the energy from the atoms that causes waste, a considerable amount of it.
I am currently in the plans to reduce my carbon foot print even further by installing solar panels and possibly a wind generator.

Is it really cleaner? The word just scares the crap outta me. And they fact that we decide who can and who can not use it.
