Today at Noimpactman.com (thanks WoodNymph, I will be forever greatful that you posted this site) the blog talks about the loss of community and how it effects our health as well as our social well being.

It sites the obvious culprits (commercial TV, commuting, etc) as possible reasons for this happening.

I have found this very true in my life. I think it is often why I feel such emptiness or loneliness.

What is one to do about this? any thoughts?

For me it is coming to this site. No one said your community has to be the people next door. I think it is important to know the people around you but often you may not have much in common. Sometimes it's just nice to connect with people who think like you do, even if they are hundreds or thousands of miles away. :D

I am learning to accept exactly what you just posted. there is a good core group of people out here and it is nice to have people to type to (even if you don't talk to them).
