hey i love these things but they're really expensive so I want to make them myself. Does anyone have the recipe?
Also, at the old forum there was this post about the book Cooking with the Dead, and I ordered it. I've tried some recipes from there and was wondering-if anyone else has it, maybe we could trade information. Like-how good did this one come out for you and such
Peace!

6 pitas
olive oil
spices/herbs (I use dried garlic and sometimes add rosemary)

Set oven to 325. Cut the pitas into 8 slices each. Brush the olive oil on the pita, and then sprinkle your spices/herbs on top. Bake for about 8-10 minutes. Keep an eye on them, b/c they tend to bake quick. I serve mine with hummus.

hey Nappydread, i've tried "good lovin' lentil soup" and ergh i just forgot the name of it. One of the pizza ones, the one that's done on fat slices of bread.
WOAH i have my music on shuffle, and good lovin' by the grateful dead just came on....WEIRDDDD hahahaha
pita chips with hummus is the best food ever.

hey mj,
wow that is really weird:)
how is that soup???
...anyway i brought the book with me today....so lemme see...i've made the chili (which is great!), veggie pitas-pretty basic, the thai high noodles and the peanut noodle recipe - which is also very yummy!

I hope to make the samosas and the egg rolls at some point:)
...and i gotta try these pita chips & hommus...sounds excellent!

oh the pizza name was Stylin' Fat Veggie Pizza
The soup was o-k...not that great. i let the bottom burn :( sooo uhh i had little burnt chunks floating around hahaha
the pizza was awesome though.
Next I want to try the Torchin' hot tuna melts
I made the pita chips today-they're perfect! In my oven I had to let them stay in there for about 15 minutes though. The eggrolls sound good..
Peace!

hey...
is that cookbook good? I am thinking of getting myself a copy...
...although i've only tried a handful of recipes from it.... i think its a good cookbook:)
Some of the recipes are a bit adventurous but they go along with the deadhead stories in the book too!
If you can get a used copy, thats even better!
:D

yeah, daisyhemp, you should definitely buy it, some of the recipes are crazy but the stories and pictures and stuff are really cool to read .and look at.
How long did you bake your pita chips?
I think mine needed more salt, but my friends loved them :)

i actually used garlic flavored olive oil and garlic salt (and a couple with rosemary on it) and we ate them with hummus, and my boyfriend and his friends had it with this spinach and sour cream dip (I'm a vegan so no dairy for me) from Trader Joe's and they loved it...mine took about 15 minutes in the oven though....

ohh i've never heard of garlic salt. but that's not soo suprising since i don't do a lot of cooking. What did the rosemary do? AH i love trader joes, i wish there were more of them so I could work in one.
Peace!

the rosemary gave it a different taste, which was kinda cool...garlic salt you can pick up in the spice aisle of any grocery store
