found it a few hundred miles north of here via type2.com
sounded like a reasonable deal, told the wife it followed me home and asked if i could keep it.

the sticker on the dash was right

i was really tempted at first, seeing how it kinda comes natural.

i'll let the boys do that with their own vans

i would like to

like to...

sheet off the drivers side rear window, the westy furniture covers most of it anyway...enlarge the canvas

go over the whole thing with that lighter metallic mintish color of the new beatles and then invite the other 2 guys i know with airbrushes over convince them to draw happy stuff, not necessarily drug related stuff, shrooms and leaves and what not but i figure some paisley swirls and tie dye patters overlapping and interweaving, maybe if the one guy is good enough with people get hendrix torching his guitar or something. sky is the limit. murals fade away and dissepate about the back third of the bus. might metal over the rear window too. not carnival ride airbrushing either, these 2 guys (father and son) do museum displays.

That sounds so sweet! I want a VW bus so bad. My husband says they suck up to much fuel. :( Oh well, maybe someday. :)

Those kind of engines get lousy milage. Always wanting to "go potty." Sheesh!

i get between 22 and 26 mpg

not great by now adays standards but not bad, i doubt the big three could come up with a small motorhome for 4 that gets near that, and it wouldnt be shaped like a brick

i always got around 30 with the bugs

I figure that the key has always been maintenance and paying close attention to all the little things like bearings greased and tire preassure, brakes adjusted properly

hell a bus probably gets better mileage if its waxed

the wife had a coronary when this picture rolled of the camera. seriously, how much help do you think a three year old could have been in swapping out an engine?

Ive heard that those "potty" engines can be difficult to remove, but that theyre relativley easy to install!

If the only two cars I ever own are a 1970's VW Bus, and a 1970' VW convertable Bug, that would be fantastic. Those are just the two coolest cars I have ever seen!
