I shall begin to outline the beginnings of a new belief system. I will start the thread as "religion" but I hope it never turns into that.
1. The belief system will respect nature and life.
2. The belief system will reject consumerism and materialism.
3. The belief system will be karma based if not spiritually then symbolically.
4. The belief system will be held by all with no central figure head that would offer additional creedence to any one group.
5. Anyone can join.
6. Anyone can leave.
7. "art" will be important to the belief system. I use art in the most liberal sense of the world. (baseball could be an art in this sense).
8. All inclusive. Acceptance is mandatory.
9. Pacifist
10. It is free.
please post your ideas.

Life after death, reincarnation, nirvana, devine spirits.

hmmm.... ok, why not. But none are essential to the belief. We gotta be careful though because pretty soon we will be universilist unitarians. Or whatever they are.
There will be no church. Only a silent service held by individuals around the world.

But if we were to say that we belive this or that, then its a religion.
Just a gathering of people with common morals and goals. No matter the beliefs.

believe this or that is still an ideology or belief system. A deity is formally needed to baptise something as "religion."
I Believe you also need some 100 years war and I am WAY too lazy for that.

dear god... you are going to fail the SATs.
Yes religions are organized but all organizations are not religious.
the converse does not always go both ways.

thats a heck of a thing to post in a thread about your new belief system, adressing a concern to God. He probably doesnt care about poor grammer any more than Music guy cares about his sat scores.
Amen

saying god in new england is like saying wicked.
doesn't mean you believe in god...
the puritans founded this land and they certainly didn't found it on grammah.

ok... so a couple of foundation builders.
per Music Guy we want something that is non-secular.
So people may worship whatever deity or transcention (if that is a word) state that they wish.
The belief system will be based on sustainability, respect for the environment, compassion towards fellow humans and animals, and non-commercialism and anti-consumerism, and apparently, grammar.
any further thoughts and we will get a free-based ritual in place.

I am struggling with whether it should be ritualistic or whether it should simply be a school of thought.
is it something to practice or be practiced?
