Hundreds of Tibetans have died in unrest in Lhasa and elsewhere in the Chinese-ruled Himalayan region, the India-based Tibetan parliament-in-exile said in a statement Monday.

"The massive demonstrations that started from March 10 in the capital city (http://search.breitbart.com/q?s=capital%20city&sid=breitbart.com) of Lhasa and other regions of Tibet, resulting (in the) death of hundreds of Tibetans, and subsequent use of force (http://search.breitbart.com/q?s=use%20of%20force&sid=breitbart.com)... needs to be brought to the attention of the United Nations (http://search.breitbart.com/q?s=United%20Nations&sid=breitbart.com) and the international community," the statement said.

So sad. Some of the most peacefull people have to be beaten down day after day, just to take back what is rightfully theres.
They dont want to look bad for the olympics, what a crock of shit that is. China already looks bad, its there money that holds over there morality.
Cant imagine how the dalai lama must feel, to sit back and watch this. So so sad.

France mulls Olympic ceremony boycott

PARIS - France's Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner says the European Union should consider boycotting the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics if violence continues in Tibet.

The head of the European parliament and media watchdog Reporters Without Borders are calling Tuesday for such a boycott. Kouchner says the proposal is "interesting."

Kouchner is telling reporters in Paris that the idea should be considered by EU foreign ministers meeting later this month.

He insists France had no plans to boycott the entire Olympic Games, saying that would not be "just."

The unrest has alarmed China, keen to look its best in the run-up to the August 8-24 Olympic Games in Beijing when it hopes to show the world it has arrived as a world power.

Uh ya. Pretty scary imo.

The 72-year-old Dalai Lama, who fled Tibet in 1959, says he is against the violence, only wants greater autonomy for his homeland and is willing to travel to Beijing for talks
They have pushed such peacefull people to do things they would never do, I cant even imagine how hard this is for them

This is heartbreaking, I had a friend trying to convince me to go with him to nepal two months ago for an extended stay...I refused to go stating that I had a cold and was too sick to travel, that I needed to maintain closeness with my lil ones....now I am confused, and sad and angry. I wish I had gone, and at the same time I am relieved to not be there right now, I want to jump on the next flight to protect these amazing and pure cultural societies, if there is purity and truth, honest hard work, and dedication left on this planet, this is where it is.....my heart is breaking right now for these people, and for the dead we should reserve silence in our hearts, a place where a gong sounds in silence. Silently facing to the east as the sun is setting.......ironically I am facing the East....and the sun, as I type these words, it kisses my face. It has not yet set.

And this friend....he has climbed Everest....couldn't have a better travel companion.....

I will be sick to see the people arriving for sport and entertainment.....

I think it makes more of a statement if the individual athletes, spectators and sponsors to boycott the Olympics. I really hope they do or, at least, make some kind of statement while they're there. I also think that those of us at home should boycott by not watching them on TV. Does anyone have any ideas for something that would have more of an impact?

At the risk of my endorsement causing members of this forum to immediately jump on a plane and killing off the rest of the Tibetans...

I have to say this has hurt me deeply. I have always had a great respect for the Dalia Lama and hoped he would be allowed at some point to return to his homeland. For he maybe the last of that grand tradition.

I hope the U.S. and many other nations boycott. I won't know however, because there is no way I will watch these games in China.

It's a shame.
