Wondering what kind of chemicals are left behind when you are eating that green hard boiled egg, worry no more :D Use natural dyes to color your egss!!! Its fun and kids can learn from it as well!!

Place the eggs in a single layer in a pan. Add water until the eggs are covered.
Add approximately one teaspoon of vinegar.
Add the natural dye. Use more dye material for more eggs or for a more intense color.
Bring water to a boil.
Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
If you are pleased with the color, remove the eggs from the liquid.
If you want more intensely colored eggs, temporarily remove the eggs from the liquid. Strain the dye through a coffee filter (unless you want speckled eggs). Cover the eggs with the filtered dye and let them remain in the refrigerator overnight.

You can use fresh and frozen berries as 'paints', too. Simply crush the berries against dry boiled eggs. Try coloring on the eggs with crayons or wax pencils before boiling and dyeing them. Happy Easter!

It uses alot of pans, we only do a few colors. Plus it can get costly too, old coffee grounds work, I save em for a week so theres lots. Pink is super easy you dont even have to boil the eggs with beet juice just let em soak, but unfortunatly for me Kris is not a big fan of pink!

There's all sorts of cool things you can do with the eggs to make different designs on them, too. I can't remember all of the ones we did last year. Crinkle up aluminum foil, and put the dye on it and roll the egg around in it was one that made cool designs...I'll try to remember the rest of them.

Thanks! You have great timing. We are doing eggs this weekend and I was just thinking about the fact that we always wind up eating colorful deviled eggs. :D I've always been interested in natural dyes anyway but I never thought of using them for eggs.
