So I'm having a problem deciding what to plant in my garden this year. I'm planning the garden on my graph paper (I know, I'm a dork) and it turns out I have an extra bed. Last year I planted peas in it for my little girl, and she didn't like them. Likes them better out of a can, the little weirdo. So I'm not planting peas there, and I can't decide what to plant. Any ideas?

In the rest of the garden I will have...
different varieties of tomatoes
green peppers
jalapeno peppers
beets
carrots
onions
green beans
corn
cucumbers
maybe watermelon or canteloupe

I'm so indecisive this year, someone tell me what to plant!

Wish I could help you with this but I guess it all depends on where you live and the climate and all that jazz.
Here in the SoCal area there are many things that we can't really grow because it's not cool enough, Raspberries for example, love the little buggers to death, could bathe in them actually, lol but they will not grow well here at all and that is why they are also so damned expensive in the grocery store.
I have redleaf lettuce, strawberries, (had kohlrabbi) parsley, cherry tomatos and a couple of other things that escape me at the moment.
But I wish you luck and take pics of it if you can.

What if you planted some fruit? Strawberries or something? Depending on where you are, they have all kinds of varieties that grow in pretty much every climate.

I would plant strawberries or spinach. Some kind of lettuce anyway?

I just made a list last night and am ordering my seeds today, gotta get moving!!!!

Nothin better then home grown strawberries!!!

PUMPKINS!!!!!

Bet your daughter likes those even if it's not because of the eating of them.

Pumpkins would be good. I'm afraid they would take up a lot of space. I was thinking of growing some white pumpkins, or some cool-looking gourds. Those are always fun in the fall. I've never tried lettuce before, that might be good, too.

Thanks for the ideas!

I love growing lettuce, it does well in cooler spots. Its soo yummy!!! Pumpkins do take up a ton of space, I planted way to many last year.

I'm glad to hear that I am not the only who plots gardens on graph paper.:D Pumpkins do tend to take a lot of space. I did lettuce for the first time last year and it was really easy. I loved it because we eat a ton of the stuff and I always seem to run out before the next farmers market during the spring. Also, it's only available fresh in the spring but I was able to grow it successfully for most of the summer. :)

Squash
French Charantais melons (you won't believe how sweet)
Hungarian wax peppers, the hot ones. Stuff with saurcraut and can.
Turkish eggplants, the little tennis ball sized orange ones - sweet and firm
Tomatillos for salsa
Cilantro for salsa
Japanese winter squash for stews
Sun, moon and stars watermelon - very sweet, not too many seeds

There's an idea or two! Good luck!
