This is a question for Christians.

Do you believe the rapture theory? I heard a pastor say that in 1830 a woman named Margaret McDonald dreamed the rapture. She told people about it and pastors started using it as a way to get people in church.

The same pastor says that the antichrist will come first, in peace and prosperity, claiming to be Christ (of course) and many Christians will go whoring (bible's word, not mine) after him.

Supposedly The real Christ comes at the seventh trump.

I lean towards believing this pastor because he speaks latin, greek, and hebrew, and has studied the original documents, well as original as they get.

Thoughts? Opinion? Not trying to start a war, so please put down any weapons you may or may not have picked up, lol.

i do not know about the rapture bit other than hearing ocd christians talk about it which is usually where i wander off and make sure their electrical outlets are straight and have all the screws going the same way.... but when it comes to the antichrist bidness i have read revelations and related texts including the agnostics and your recollections are fairly accurate (not that they are innacurate, but it has been a while since i have actively read the bible, so my recollections related to your recollections might be having a multiplicity equation thing going on). basically an easy sum up is the true believers will see the beast for who he is and when jesus arrives it's the end of the world. those who have accepted christ into their hearts (blah blah blah) will live forever in the lords kingdom and those who have accepted satan will burn forever in the firey brimstone darkness of hell.

The problem is that the first part of this has actually already occured. The problem is that after Satan took residence in Washington, he was too stupid to carry out his wicked plan.

# 1, you're not far off, I do believe George is an Antichrist as well as alot of these people who follow the "gospel of prosperity". Google it. I don't think capitalism is Christian or war. Just my opinion. Do you have cable T.V. or a satellite Quinn?

Just my opinion. Do you have cable T.V. or a satellite Quinn?I have analog cable if you can believe that... and based on my current bank statement apparently I don't have too many more cold New England winters in my future... and based on my health, well the Gospel of Prosperity is really dishing me a raw deal.

I am amazed at how people can fall for something like that but I guess lack of education combined with desperation and poverty is a powerful motivator. People need to realize that no amount of money can save their souls, however a complete disregard of frugality can destroy them.

I have yet to read where Christianity speaks to either of those concepts. I have read the Douay-Rheims bible, the King James and have heard many discussions post Vatican two. I have also read many of the lost gospels (Matthew, etc.) and it seems the only times that I have heard of these extreme tithings are at the lips of the modern day used car salesman who are quoting the quality of the 1967 Pinto while they drive around the 2008 BMW 7-series.

Never once in all those editions did I ever get the impression that material wealth, freedom from ailment or sickness, or any of that nonsense paved the way to the promise land.

Then again, and I could be wrong, but I doubt the Qur'an indicates that you should slam a plane into a building at high speed.

These books have been misinterpreted for hundreds of years to exploit the poor and to use them as a tool for others to gain financial wealth and power.

I wouldn't want to have to answer for that amount of explotation however, no amount of gain is worth that.

The reason I asked if you have cable is; see if you get Link TV. You would like the programing and they often feature the Dali Lama. ;)

very cool. but I am only so hardcore and remember that my Celtics come before religion! But still, I have been reading quite a bit about the Dalai Lama. To me, I learn more when having a book that I can read and re-read than tv. Not that tv isn't helpful. But I try to stay away from it as much as possible.
