I love to decoupage stuff. For christmas I bought these shelves for like 10 bucks and decoupaged them as gifts for my two bestest friends, they loved them! I dont have pics but nex time Im at there houses I will take one.
I just recently did an old dresser, just the fronts of the drawers and it looks sweet, I will post a pic of that tonight from home.
All you need is modge podge glue, paper or pics, and a paint brush! and scissors to cut the images you want.

Ive done this huge wooden bowl from an old high times magazine and I keep some herbs in it. I'll have to post a pic of that too.
I got some wicked cool paper from a craft store that I love, ive been using that recently and for those shelves. But any paper will do, you can even do pictures.
I like doing glass jars too, as either to use money jars or tea or anything really.
I really do heart decoupaging. Anyone else?

whoa... that is intense. There are some serious variation in decoupaging levels of ability.

I've always wanted to try it. For Christmas we are going to do a build-your-own tea basket and my mother-in-law gave me a bunch of old Herb Companion magazines so I want to do some glass baby food jars to put the tea in. I would love to see some of what you've done. Maybe it would give me some ideas. :D

Nice! I am going to do that to my ugly-ass cabinets in the kitchen. I have a "south-western" style kitchen so I can do a native american print or something. sweet.

The paper I got in the scrap book section of the craft store, theres TONS of awesome paper there, cause scrap booking is so huge now. I ran out of the brown with flowers so I had to use some of that teal, I dont care for how the bottom drawers turned out, but I use that dresser for all my craft supplies in the spare room so, whatever.

do you have to use acid free paper on furniture? do you use a shellack to finish?

I dont know about the acid free bit? And the glue acts like a shellack it dries clear and depending on how many coats you use can be thick. Ive never used a shellack just the decoupage glue, I get the glossy. Theres matte also, but I like the shiny look best. I do many coats too.
It lasts a long time and if you see paper coming apart just reglue.

so it sounds like the glue acts enough like a shellack. The acid free is what they use for scrapbooking. it keeps something from yellowing but now that I think of it it might be the pictures that yellow.

This is creeping me out, I feel like you all are spying on me....I was just talking about this 80+ year old woman who decoupages like a madwoman, and I thought of how adorable it is, that she just cruises around and artsy's up things wherever she goes, my boyfriend said it sounded cheap and tacky....and I argued with him how tasteful and creative you can be with it....this same woman walks miles everyday and loves zideco music. did I spell that right.....zideco?
I don't know how to spell it. but everyone should decoupage.... :) And by the way...I have seen some bad ass decoupage in my day, and it was not at all tacky or cheap. OOoooh they make beautiful origami paper that would look beautiful dressing up items...... On another note...Stop spying on me. It is immoral, and just plain wrong and you know it, how would you feel if someone were watching in on your conversations and situations, it's none of anybodies business.....PSycho speech :) JK
