Well. I'm sitting here, home from my sister in law's house, and we are with out a mode of transportation.

I was getting read to go to bed Thursday night and I heard a crash outside, and then a car honk. Well I stepped out to see that some drunk driver slammed....yes SLAMMED into the back of my parked car and pushed it into the parking spot of the house next door.

The car is totaled. I'm posting pics below.

I'm still livid right now, and have been "mellowing out" if you know what I mean. I'll fill you in when i get more details from the police. But all that happened after he drove off was this:

I got my work boots on (b/c it was the only pair of shoes I had packed b/c we were coming home the next day... I was going to go to work from my SIL house) and started following my 8.5 month pregnant sister in law down the street as she's trying to follow the trail of anti-freeze. We get to his house (around the block) and she rattles off hte plate # and address to the police station on her cell. Well we start walking back to the house and I look back and he's standing in his lawn. I took EVERYTHING I had not to mow his ass into the ground in fury. And with the training I have, plus my size, I could have killed him. So I just took a deep breath and told him not to go anywhere b/c the cops were on their way. Julie is pulling hard on my arm so I'll leave. His response... He put his arms in the air like "oh well", shook his head and went inside.

The cops came, took statements and such from us and had a few units at his house. The other unit came over and swapped places with out officers. They told us he's denying he was driving and doesn't want to come out of the house. They said his brother just pulled up and was trying to get him out, so evading the cops they told us that when the accident investigators come out and talk to him, they can get the truth from him. They said that it looks like they could get him on felony charges of some kind. I'm happy for that.

But during the whole time I was calm and joking. I mean I thought about it this way:

I hated that car b/c of the road noise, the wiring that was starting to go out in weird places, the perpetual check engine light and a slew of other problems not to but including being in the shop every year since we moved out here.
Julie and I were not in the car and no one was injured (except for the dumb-ass who did this). I am upset that I am missing work pay for the days I'm out of work taking care of this and being with out proper transportation. The value of the car was only 3k or so (I think), and we are still making payment on debt management. I wanted to get a more fuel efficient car when we were out of those payments.

Life just got a little more harder. I honestly don't know what to do.
Damn I can still smell gasoline.

That's her house in the background.

My skid marks are the only ones. He never tried to brake. If you look good in the background you can see his trail of fluids.

Whoa Dude! Glad you're OK. Awesome that you kept your cool. Don't worry. Things'll work out. There's more important things in the world than f-ing cars anyway.

obviously, I am just happy to hear that you and Julie was alive.

Drunk Drivers drive me nuts because they take chances with other people's lives.

Have you considered a Hyundai? They are wicked cheap and anyone AFTER (that is the key) 2000 are pretty reliable.

I have owned 3 and they have all been excellent cars. My 1994 Excel went to 211,000 miles.

hang in there... did the guy have any insurance?

Maybe it's fate, It'll seem like it when you're none the worse for wear and sitting in a better position down the road (bad pun)

hopefully through this all you will be able to get something more ideal for yourselves. If it makes you feel any better the Bus is on the road again slowing up traffic clocking 24 mpg.

Sorry man. If I had an extra car I'd give it to you. What is "your Training" BTW? I'm interested in such things.

Man thats so scary, I am glad you guys are ok and that you didnt beat his ass! I could only imagine how hard that must have been.

I cant believe someone could drive like that, to hit a parked car that hard, drive away and go home around the block, damn.

Glad you guys are ok, and like everyone else said it will be ok im glad your looking at the bright side of the situation.

Thanks guys and gals.

We just went outside and checked the truck over and cranked her up. She's running smooth, though she hasn't been driven in a year. She needs her inspection and registration. I think I posted a pic of the truck before.

If not, here is a pic.

We stopped driving her when gas prices started to go up faster each day. We are glad she's working so we can take her camping.

Andy: We are assuming he does b/c the truck was a new model, decked out with lift kit (not monster truck size, but just raised an inch or so), and "nerf" running boards. We still haven't gotten a call from the investigators, but they probably don't work on the weekend.

Dude...first off I'm glad everyone is alright. That sort of thing is scary to think of. I always get nervous when I'm in the city and have to park my car on the street. Also, my husband is working his way up the Ninjitsu ladder. He's a little over half way thorough and it is wicked cool! He's already a black belt in Muy Thai. Again, glad everyone is alright!!

I'm so glad you guys weren't in the car. How does someone slam into a parked car without even trying to stop!? Hope everything goes well with the insurance.

Who knew we had so many kickass peace mongers around here? Speak softly and carry a big stick. :D

I told you that TR was your kinda thing.

The bigger person walks without a stick however, unless it is a walking stick.

I will note that while physical violence may make the anger flow out of your mind it just permeates the rest of the world.

on act of violence only begets another.

so by carrying a big stick you are only asking to be challenged and whacked by another.

Well I got a hold of the investigator and he said they are going to issue him quiet a few tickets and are going to get him to confess. He also gave me his insurance (Farmers) and policy# I called my insurance co and will have them handle everything from here, I mean I pay them to insure me right... time for them to earn their money.
