Church of Scientology warns Wikileaks over documents
Wikinews has learned that the Church of Scientology warned the documents-leaking site Wikileaks.org that they are in violation of United States copyright laws after they published several documents related to the Church. Wikileaks has no intention of complying, and states that in response, it intends to publish thousand pages of additional Scientology materials beginning Monday.
In the letter to Wikileaks, lawyers for the Church's Religious Technology Center (RTC), which oversees the use of the their logos, writings and religious content, states that the site "placed RTC's Advanced Technology works on Wikileaks.org's website without the authorization" of the Church.
"I have a good faith belief, and in fact know for certain, that posting copies of these works through your system was not authorized by my client, any agent of my client, or the law. Please be advised that your customer's action in this regard violates United States copyright law. Accordingly, we ask for your help in removing these works immediately from your service," states the letter from Ava Paquette of Moxon & Kobrin, which was published by Wikileaks.
On March 9, 2008, Wikileaks published several documents relating to the Church's Office of Special Affairs and personal notes gathered by Frank Oliver, a former Scientologist and former member of the Church's Special Affairs office. On March 26, 2008, Wikileaks published the entire set of the Churches 'Operating Thetan Level' documents which included handwritten notes by Scientology's founder, L. Ron Hubbard.
Although the letter does not mention specific legal threats, the letter asks that Wikileaks "preserve any and all documents pertaining to this matter and this customer, including, but not limited to, logs, data entry sheets, applications -- electronic or otherwise, registration forms, billings statements or invoices, computer print-outs, disks, hard drives, etc."
Despite the letter, Wikileaks states it will not comply with the "abusive request" by the Church.
"Wikileaks will not comply with legally abusive requests from Scientology any more than Wikileaks has complied with similar demands from Swiss banks, Russian off-shore stem cell centers, former African Kleptocrats, or the Pentagon. Wikileaks will remain a place where people of the world may safely expose injustice and corruption," stated Wikileaks in a release on its website.
Wikileaks further states that, "in response to the attempted suppression, Wikileaks will release several thousand additional pages of Scientology material next week."

If there is anything that would some up the legacy of Bush it would be a galatic war. I have full faith that before we go to the polls in September that we will be knee deep in a galatic war facing an enemy that has a "wave-motion" gun.
If I see a boat named the Argo I am out of here.
Come on Unkle John, you must at least know what the hell I am talking about.

Scientology is about as wacky as it gets. Jehovah Witnesses's have nothing on this group. Even in it's most moderate forms it can be cult like. Of course, this is in my heavy handed "non-religious" view, but still, most people will mark them as certifiable.
They started up in the let's say early 50's. Maybe the late 40's, who knows or cares?
it's a little difficult to explain.
Basically, and I will be butchering this...
they don't have a bible per se, they have a series of books and lectures. The best way I can describe it is a scientific study of the "spirit". Keep listening, it will get weirder.
They believe everyone started out good but through experiences got tainted. (we are good so far).
Basically they are trying to build a bridge that would remove the "evil" that people have collected and we would live in a society with no evil, wrongdoing, etc. Of course, they will lay out the definitions of good and evil. And of course, you might not agree with it but that is ok, because with them you become a borg.
My biggest gripe is they don't believe in psychology or psychiatry. You know, they wouldn't want anyone to say that they are insane.
They are big into everyone being "on the same page".
they believe the supreme being reveals itself to you as you become more "aware" but no "God" per se. The do believe there is an energy force called Theta that is beyond everyone.
they believe in a buddhist type rebirth where you keep coming back as a different person until you merge with the Theta.
so this doesn't sound so weird....
but wait, here is the catch -
They believe that everyone who is a believer is also an "auditor" and it is believers jobs to "audit" non-believers souls and get them on board. Ok, that is annoying but plenty of Christians do that too.
but wait... there is more!
They don't believe you can free yourself without other scientolgists (auditors) help. And they really believe in spiritual healing. Got cancer? no problem, they will spiritually heal it. Got Aids? Well you did something wrong and they will "spiritually" heal it? Have a mental illness... well you get the idea.
Have a drug problem? They will spiritually heal it.
Needless to say, they aren't getting the clinical results that you might like if you have one of these ailments that you might like them to get.
AND THEY ARE REALLY REALLY INTENSE THAT YOU GET THIS SPIRITUAL HEALING!!!!
If a Scientologist becomes a criminal, they may have him/her "disappear" from society for awhile while they are "spritually" healed.
they also make you pay for the auditing process and for the vitamins to take instead of meds. Oh yeah, AND it's expensive. But hey... it's better than constant rebirth? right???
So on top of no doctor's visits and false imprisonment of their own members.... it's a money making scheme.
They also use mob-like tactics to silence their critics. Media members have been threatened, beaten, bombed, etc.
They also really go out of their way to keep their own members.
Tom Cruise is a good example of a Scientologist.
They also say that it is compatible with whatever religion you are now... but then STRONGLY recommend that you no longer attend those services.
They also get into some deep science stuff like dianetics and that sort of stuff.
Gives the money making scheme a little more depth.
Stay clear of these people.

Wait! You forgot the aliens. That's the best part. :D
The "evil" and bad feeling are suppose to come from the tortured spirits of aliens that were trapped on earth by some evil alien conqueror.
I have a really hard time giving credence to a religion conceived of by a sci-fi writer. Especially one who was a complete egomaniac.

I was trying to be somewhat fair. yes, they believe as did L. Ron Hubbard (author of Dianetics) that we all havethe spirit of space aliens trapped inside our bodies that are trying to get out. and they use an E-meter for auditing.
it's just stupid. but hey, stupid is good. Here is some info on it below... I do not vouche for the accuracy but I will say that it gives a general idea.
Do Scientologists (http://www.scientology-lies.com/scientology/scientologist.html) believe in space aliens?
Scientology (http://www.scientology-lies.com/scientology/teachings/scientology.html) does teach that many of our problems are caused by the spirits of space aliens that are stuck to our bodies. However, that teaching is considered confidential and is only taught to Scientologists who have reached a certain level, known in Scientology as OT (http://www.scientology-lies.com/scientology/levels/ot.html) III - so a lot of Scientologists are actually unaware that this is an important Scientology teaching.
Scientology Teachings about Space Aliens
What, exactly, does Scientology say about space aliens?
In the materials for OT III (http://www.scientology-lies.com/scientology/levels/ot-iii.html) (Operating Thetan (http://www.scientology-lies.com/scientology/levels/ot.html) level 3), L. Ron Hubbard (http://www.scientology-lies.com/people/executives/l-ron-hubbard.html) writes that, 75 million years ago, the head of the Galactic Federation, made up of 76 planets, was a being named Xenu (http://www.scientology-lies.com/scientology/teachings/xenu.html). Faced with an overpopulation problem, he brought beings to this planet, blew them up with hydrogen bombs, and packaged them. Their spirits now infest our bodies: he says "One's body is a mass of individual thetans stuck to oneself or to the body." Scientologists at this level try to rid themselves of these thetans (spirits) by helping each one to remember the painful experiences of being blown up like that.
There are other Scientology teachings that relate to space aliens. The book "Have You Lived Before This Life?", described in Scientology advertisements as "a cold-blooded account of your last years", contains dozens of case histories of memories experienced by Scientologists, some of which include adventures in outer space.
Even the glossary in Scientology's What Is Scientology? contains a definition for the phrase " space opera (http://www.scientology-lies.com/re.cgi?http://www.scientology.org/p_jpg/wis/wiseng/gloss.htm)", which, according to Scientology, relates to periods on "the whole track (http://www.scientology-lies.com/scientology/teachings/whole-track.html)" (that is, our whole history (http://www.scientology-lies.com/culture/history/index.html), going back through many lives and millions of years), and it contains "space travel, spaceships, spacemen" and so on.

Okay thats just strange. I dig any faith that promotes peace and love, but sometimes you wonder if some folks have been adversely affected by Saturday morning cartoons.

^come on Frog admit it. There were a bunch of planets that got blown up by an H-Bomb and then there spirits all got stuck inside of us.
The quicker you let that spirit go, the faster you will owe them money.
What is possibly wrong with that?
no disrespect meant to the Scientologist nut-bags of course.
