I just got done painting my kitchen cupboards. So tonight I was going to start painting the walls. I started taking down the border that was here when I moved in, well the paint was coming off with it. And behold major cracks in the walls and celing. I kept scrapin paint away and the more I did the more I found. Theres a soccer ball size hole in the ceiling, cracks from one end of the kitchen ceiling to the other, its bad. I sat there and cried. What do I do now? Its not patchable at all.

Days like this I wish I were married to a carpenter. Im so sick of trying to do all this stuff. I dont have the money to sheetrock everything, is that the only option? My roof must be leaking or something cause the hole looked like it was due to wtr damage, maybe from the hood vent cause its kinda near that.

I really really really dont like asking for help from family. My brothers are so busy with there own lives.

:bawl:

Its probably not as bad as I think, or maybe it is,lol I dunno, either way I am freakin out about it.

most of the time hood vents dont vent outside through the roof. can you climb in your attic at all and inspect things?

i have patched some really bad holes in drwall, some as big as the torso of a grown man. i could try to talk you through it but it's gonna be a lot of work and a lot of dust.

wouldnt be the first time that i have seen a large plaster medallion covering a hole with a ceiling fan hanging through it

does anyone owe your siblings favors, or a maybe call in a favor from a boardmonkey (drywaller) that they work with frequently. I got my garage drywalled by wiring a guys pole barn.......

I know how you fell, my first place was the greatest thing since sliced bread to me, but after realizing what was up...shame on me. never happened again.

ya I can get in the attic, I had to insulate it when I moved it, it was horrible. I dont remember even seeing the vent but I know its up there.

I patched some holes before but they look bad, I didnt do a very good job and they were small holes. were electric baseboard t stats used to be.

Im gonna talk to my brothers tomorrow, we do new construction (plumbing) and there good friends with the sheetrock dudes but it wont be free, and thats my only option, or damn close to free anyway.

Thanks, that is so true. Made me smile it was sweet.

Seems like everything I touch turns out to be 100 times more work in the end. Nothing is as simple as I think it may be, ever.

This house was built in the 60's and when I moved in everything was freshly painted and looked great, totally surface though. all the paint is bubbling and chipping. Thats not all either.

I too often have these issues, married to a really non handy man.......and when I do something no matter how easy it seems it turns into a major ordeal, which sucks, but I have ended up accomplishing some pretty major stuff and it is cool to say that you did it yourself.......hang in there!!!! Take a deep breath, it will be o.k.......

I feel better today, I was so mad last night, I had to stop and chill before I tore the whole ceiling down or something dumb, lol

Im so independent and stubborn, its a bad mix. Im gonna see how bad it is this weekend, then go from there.

It does feel good to accomplish things like that, after the fustration is gone!
