This seems as good a spot as any to bring this up. There is a world-wide effort to have 24 hours of people singing for peace on June 20-21, 2008. There will be house concerts, small gatherings, large gatherings, and some 24-hour events in a variety of places. I am happy and proud to be taking part in a lcoal 24-hour event at the Town Hall in nearby Barre, Massachusetts. Is anyone here aware of similar events in your area? Anyone else here participating? Well, they haven't been able to go a full 24-hour cycle, but between Friday night and Saturday day there are 16 participating artists. There are some folkie types, me with my folk/rock, even a bluegrass group. Should be a great time and it will hopefully get some press to start people thinking. :group_hug

Trust me - no-one would want to hear me sing for 24 seconds never mind 24 hours!!
Seriously though - this is a nice idea.

Well, the event happened this weekend and it was great. Turnout was scattered (too nice a day for an indoor event) but those who came were enthusiastic and supportive. The best part is that all of the publicity for the event allowed folks a chance to reflect on issues of peace and justice.
There were choral groups, a country band, some folkies like me, even a Bluegrass band. It was nice to see so many different types of people coming together to promote peace. :hippie:
