I'm not certain of the "A" place you were talking about, but I see you'll be coming from MA. You should make one of your first stops be New Hope, Pennsylvania. It's a great town to visit. You shouldn't miss New Orleans or Denver, Co. Also, I've always wanted to drive out to Key West. It's supposed to be awesome. So, if you're taking the southern route and you want to drive over a whole lot of ocean and you have lots of time, you should think about that. Another thing I hear is great is driving up the coast of California. But, I've never done that either :(

Good luck. Keep us up to date with your itinerary. Maybe you can meet up with some friendly faces along the way.

Try to visit Arches National Park in Utah. It is the most stunning, awe inspiring, overwhelmingly beautiful place that I know of. It also starts with an A... Is this the place you were thinking of?

Peace.

Definitely Denver...No offense to anyone but my friend and I were thinking of avoiding the south..mmm haha Yeah, coastline route in CA ...definitely, i used to live there so i've been on it, it's awesome :D Yeah! i was just thinking it'd be sort of fun to say hi to people off this forum if i go past/to their town!
Orchid, okee i will remember/write down that national park name...that wasn't the A place i was trying to remember haha but thanks! Utah IS beautiful. Actually yeah Ashville kind of sounds like what i was thinking of. i'm not sure but yeah.

hey mj,
i dunno how much time you have but a summer trip up to Alaska/Yukon area is always amazing! I went there for a month this summer and had a blast. The scenary is just incredible and the 21 hours of sunlight can be really trippy. Kind of a long way from Mass. though :(

Antioch University starts with A, but it's in Yellowsprings, OH. Yellowsprings is an awesome place to visit. Quite a few funky shops (including headshops), Young's Dairy Farm, Glenn Helen Nature Preserve, John Bryan State Park, Clifton Gorge State Nature Preserve. It's a really cool little town. Very funky/hippie/artsy.

Redthewitch-

I have been to Yellowsprings... It is a cool place. Athens, OH is a lot like Yellowsprings. Lived there for 5 years, and I miss it sooo much!! It has a very diverse atmosphere, and it is the hometown for Ohio University. They also have a lot of national parks down in that area, the most popular is Hocking Hills. It is touristy, but if you go at the right times in the year you don't even have to deal with anyone.
The original poster- I think you are talking about Asheville NC. I am moving there in June to go to college :) , and I have visited there many times. Beautiful town.

I've lived in BC for the last 10 years. I have a ton of pics of BC on my personal website www.xstacey.com

When asked recently "If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?" my response was "I can live anywhere in the world and that's why I live here."

Oh, I've been to Athens, as well! It is a great place! Another place to check out is Saugutauk(sp?) Michigan. It is a cool little town, even if it is a tourist trap. It is beautiful up there, and one of the state park/beaches you have to walk forever through the woods to get to the beach, but it is worth it! We used to go up there almost every other weekend back when I was in high school.
